The issue isn’t that it was expected to be the “ultimate video game,” but rather that it was advertised as a better version of what we got. I knew going in that it would be a game about exploring and mining stuff, but we were (and still are if you look at the trailer that autoplays on the Steam page for the game)

Great interview! Tabata seems like a rad guy. I’m certainly looking forward to seeing how XV turns out, one way or the other. This and Nioh are two games that, despite their ridiculous development hell situations, still manage to look fascinating as we finally near their releases.

What I’d like to know is how much is it going to cost and how much is going to be in it. The “campaign” to Taken King was fun enough, but it was also unbelievably short and then immediately threw you back into “now go do the same random stuff in this zone over and over til you find people to raid with.”

One of the hardest bosses? If you’re having trouble with him, here’s a fun tip: lock on and just strafe around him to your right with your shield up and he’ll struggle to hit you at all, leaving you to take free hits. When he summons a shade, just run up and kill it immediately as it’s been summoned, then repeat.

I can understand them wanting to nerf poise, since it was pretty overpowered to have in some of the boss fights of DS1, but it having no effect at all IS a bit strange.

I mean, it’s a game that takes place in an incredibly small farm town in the middle of nowhere with a population of like 30, and that’s including the children and elderly. How much representation can really be expected? Not exactly the melting pot of video game locations.

Total playtime was probably in the 25-30 hour range for me when I got it, though you could get it sooner if you followed a guide or something. Technically speaking you could do it in just two playthroughs.

Yes, but there’s a difference between mentioning that they’re similar once, and going through every single detail of how they’re similar, to the point that you’re talking as much or more about Dark Souls than about Salt and Sanctuary, which is what a lot of people are doing.

Everyone who talks about the game seems to lean heavily on the “it’s 2D Dark Souls!” schtick, and, while I can certainly understand why, I feel it’s a disservice to the game to do that at every turn. It pulls a lot from its inspiration, perhaps too much even, but it also molds that into something of its own. It stuffs

This is a cool idea, and for people who might not play the game otherwise due to the frightening encounters it’s great, but I definitely think that the game deserves to have enemies of some kind within it.

Mine was probably from SOMA in the area where you first meet the enemy that you can’t look at. I sprinted into a room, closed the door behind me, and crouched in the corner, staring at the closed door as I waited for the sound of its footsteps to fade.

Yeah, it even points out that there’s an option for both in the source he links to, so I’m not sure how that got overlooked.

I wouldn’t really compare it to Zelda at all to be honest. Have you played Act Raiser on the SNES? It’s closer to that. Part dungeon crawler, part world building.

Those are pretty rad, actually.

From a lore standpoint I believe the canon is that Link was a warrior who fought for humanity during the war with darkness that preceded the events of Skyward Sword, and when they lost the Goddess basically said “don’t worry, from now on whenever darkness rears its heads you’ll return to kick its ass.” So I guess it

I was pretty disappointed in MGO personally. Everyone keeps saying “It’s great because it’s just MGSV, but online!” but it’s not that, and that’s the problem. One of MGSV’s biggest strengths was its variety of ways you could approach it, but MGO right from the get go is one of the most restrictive online shooters I’ve

I had a surprisingly fun time playing it, but I worry about its longevity based on what’s on display in the beta.

But at least no one’s pirating the game, eh??

Can I buy just the campaign for $10 if I don’t want the multiplayer? No, of course not, because you don’t actually think your campaign is worth that little.

Don’t think we have anything similar to that where I live haha.
