Lovecraft was painfully racist and anti semitic. Even for his time.

What is wrong with people today who apparently have never heard of context? It was a different time, with different social norms. You can’t judge all of history through the lens of current society. It’s not only foolish to try, it means you will never understand the past or the present.

Don’t blame me, I voted for Davros.

Did I say that? No. Stop putting words in people’s mouths. Do I seriously think some posters on the Gawker/Kinja network call everything sexist? Yes, some do.

No. Stop it. Not everything men do is “man-whatever”. This is crying wolf crap, like calling all Republicans Nazis. Then we got Trump and we’d used up all the bad words. Cut out the hyperbole.

No, this is someone getting called out as a moron for making a mildly annoying issue on Twitter about gender when there is no actual evidence to show that it has anything to do with gender. I know my “Mansplaining” may “Mantrigger” you, but I’m not “Mansorry” and I never will be. Not everything is about gender, no

LOL that partial duck face

Counterpoint: Stop adding the “Man-” prefix to everything you don’t like. You’re doing nothing but making a gender issue out of something that has nothing to do with gender. Your examples of “Manthreading” (ugh) aren’t even directed at or about women. They’re just people breaking up their lengthier thoughts on

Agreed that doing the whole “threading” thing is obnoxious. Where this goes off the rails (instantly) is making it the whole “mostly men” thing. That’s not my experience personally, there’s no substantiation whatsoever and it’s just gender-baiting for clicks.

This is the author’s twitter page. No joke.

“Today, a woman named Alana Hope Levinson, a “journalist” with around 30 readers, decided it was time for her to voice her concern that people are “ruining her experiences” without consultation from the rest of the internet (it wasn’t time and will never be time)“

FTFY

Sorry Alana, but you don’t have any more of a right

Another, “men shut up,” post.

Maybe it’s just because I’m a Spider Man fan since I was old enough to crack open a comic book but I can’t find anything wrong with the trailer. All the good old stuff I want for a nostalgia trip combined with some cool new takes on things to make it feel fresh.

I like it, it’s cute. The kids actually look like kids who could still be in high school; not near-30 adults trying to play teens.

This bothers me. Capaldi really grew on me and it’s obvious that he is a brilliant actor when he is given good content to work with. Anyone who thinks otherwise didn’t watch Heaven Sent. Merchandise sales slowing is a terrible reason to just fire an actor. There could be all sorts of reasons people aren’t buying

100% chance that Kylo has an unopened original Vader figure and is super paranoid about anyone touching it.

Nope-Gawker did some very hypocritical and legally sketchy things. The frankly childish behaviour of Denton and many staff in response meant that this was very much earned.

Gawker has built up a lot of ill will by pulling stunts and defending them as “journalism” and then claiming the freedom of the press is threatened when they got in trouble for it (one example is going to an electronics expo with a device that spoofs remotes to turn off monitors during presentations, and then getting

I’ve been here for years, and am fully capable of recognizing how many of these wounds were completely self-inflicted. I find Thiel’s victory troubling from a freedom of the press standpoint but Gawker’s petty childish bullshit enabled it to happen, and honestly I’m almost madder at them. They created the perfect test
