Was anointed the next superstar in the world of soccer and completely failed to live up to any sort of hype, ever. He's horrendous.

I meant as in that was supposed to be the time he was set to become a superstar. I didn't word it well
I never got to watch him much as my interest in international soccer always took precedence 4-5 years ago when he was supposed to be the next big thing, but it would have been fun to see him pan out. Maybe he still has a shot, albeit a slim one.
Also he's still only 24 or something, right? Dude had a career rise-and-fall within 2 years.
More like Freddy Adieu, amirite?
Not sure that I agree. Could/should they have done better? Arguably. A massive underachievement? Not quite. Oh well, to each his own.
Taking Germany to 3rd place in 2006 doesn't matter, right?
You do realize he is absolutely correct, right? MLS is a joke amongst soccer leagues worldwide. There is a lot...a LOT...for them to improve on.

Careful, scalding hot takes like this one can be dangerous to open skin.
IN THE IMMORTAL WORDS OF TEENAGE WHITE GIRLS EVERYWHERE: THIS MATCH, I CAN'T EVEN
As much as I would like to see Costa Rica pull off an upset (even as a pseudo-Dutch fan), I just do not see it happening here. A great run comes to an end, and Navas, while spectacular, may not have enough saves in him to stop the Dutch attack.
This needs more love.
I mean, BRIGHT HIGHLIGHTER SUN YELLOW is an easily missed jersey color.
What a corner by Neymar. What horrible defense by Colombia.
Now watch it be a horrible match :(
This is going to be the match of the tournament.
This reply deserves much, much more praise. I am laughing so hard.
A good part of the city is, as you indicated, quite horrible. Downtown Detroit is not. In fact, it has a lower crime rate than the national average. It's when you start moving away from the central city corridors that it becomes an issue.
I really don't think you would. Pleasantly surprised is what I'd guess your reaction would be after your trip. But hey, I'll let you keep on assuming things without actually ever having stepped foot inside city limits. Cheers, friend.
