Well, part of the problem is that... the game... doesn’t... have a co-op campaign. It has a COD-style spec-ops thing.

Having played it, it is “good enough,” based on my experience, but apparently, mine is unusual.

Evan, you should have waited.

That’s what difficulty levels are for. So a “good diet” for a vegan (easy mode), a good diet for a normal person (normal mode), and a “good diet” for someone with allergies (hard mode). Blam.

“Patronizing AI” vs “Strong AI” is a false equivalency.

The Boeing prototype was way better.

Yes, and that’s what happened. It was too quick to be a case of, like, “oh, he went through the vents.” Nope. He just suddenly appeared next to me.

The article has been tweaked to hopefully make that clearer. It was fine in the original draft, and it lost something along the way, so it should be fixed. It was a literal bug where the AI was physically incapable of moving. All of the AI. I could walk around them in circles and they would do nothing.

Just got through GameInformer’s piece on Desilets, so I’m pretty hyped to see what you have about him.

That’s why the idea is that good game AI makes a game more fun to play, rather than acts as strong AI. You don’t want strong AI in a typical AAA game. You want fun AI.

No, the AI literally broke. They would shout but they were physically incapable of moving. They just stood there. Couldn’t fire their guns. Couldn’t move at all. Just cycled through audio lines.

They had to kill the characters off. Newt was too old, and a mistake to begin with, and Beihn demanded too much money. I think he wanted to star over Weaver, but I could be wrong.

I prefer to take all my canon knowledge from Alien and Alien 3 and ignore Aliens and Resurrection.

afaik it was, or at least it explains why the alien is omnipresent

Yeah, the Alien should have shown up less. We should spend a lot more time with the Joes.

The AI in Isolation glitches as much, if not more, than it did in Colonial Marines.

The problem isn’t that it appeared behind me, it’s that it walks off my radar on one direction, then immediately shows up behind me. It’s pulling off a physically impossible feat, and we’re not at the SPOILER BITS yet. Aliens can’t teleport. It’s not one of their powers.

It’s really, really, really good.

I’m aware. The issue is that it teleports instantly.

That, for me, was the big problem with the AI. It always seemed to have an approximate knowledge of MY location.
