I'm very happy she survived and I hope things get better for her from this point on. I love her quote about not being broken — it seems very meaningful, given what she's been through.

This Lorde person (I understand she's a musician, or something?) is totally right. I don't think that the gender of the stalker matters, or that they're paparazzi, 'cause that just makes them a professional stalker.
When I see the way rich people dress, it just makes it that much more bewildering to me that anybody (lookin' at you, Jezebel) takes them so seriously.
I've known one couple for whom it became a problem.
It's basically the same way that Christians in America could do the same thing, I guess.
But isn't "normal" modern eating a fad diet, too? Just a very popular one?
I don't think the guy's getting the date. That kind of confidence only gets rewarded on a lottery basis — if you approach one hundred women with that kind of attitude, you may get lucky and encounter as many as five or even ten women that respond favorably. But you've actively repelled the other 18 or 19 out of 20…
That is the opposite of my experience.
Language question: When they say that she's suing the state, do they mean that she's holding the state responsible for what happened to her, or do they mean that she's asking the state for help? My understanding is that suing doesn't necessarily mean accusing.
You're probably right. It wouldn't be enough to convict the guy in court, necessarily. But it might convince the people that buy the magazines to boycott the magazines.
Jezebel? Ravens? Huh?
If Podrick Payne can't have the Iron Throne, it should be Ser Pounce.
I am against this. I can't articulate why, precisely, and it's not like I would ever stop anyone from doing it. But I'm against it.
What about Marilyn?
Wouldn't he have to be kind of stupid just to keep doing this over and over again? Well, maybe not stupid, but off-balance, at least. Compulsive? Maybe that's the term. I don't think well people would do what he's alleged to have done.
It just occurred to me what Terry Richardson keeps getting accused of is coercing women into sex and then taking pictures of it. If somebody could get their hands on those pictures ... well, that still wouldn't necessarily prove coercion, but it would at least prove that the sex did happen. If he really is the perv…
For what reason? Why would people get together to accuse a wealthy, high-profile professional of something embarrassing and illegal? I can imagine reasons.
I'll go look. But is the accusation being made that all women are violent, that all women can't be trusted, that it's right for all men to be afraid of all women because they just don't know which ones are violent and which ones aren't? Because if that accusation isn't being made, then it can't be responded to.
When I was in elementary school in a small town in Alaska in the early 80s, the local church group found out that one of the families believed in evolution. They sent their kids to school with instructions to beat on the children of that family. So the kids did this, circling one kid with sticks and beating on him…
Some people (I honestly don't know how to tell who's a woman and who's not on the internet) are engaging the substance, some people are just seeking certainty and finding it in a blanket condemnation of all men.
