Click bait much? There’s a big difference between running low, and running out. Running your car low, down to “E”, or when the light comes on isn’t going to do any appreciable damage. Running out of gas is bad, as you outlined, but that’s not what your title says.

I was at the 2005 F1 Race. Can confirm, it was awful. Watching a pair of Ferraris run circles around backmarker teams was not entertaining.

Couldn’t have said it better myself

You sir are correct. Although, you have to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how wrong it is!

That was an example and you missed my point. Automation is good. It will make travel safer (it already has). At some point though the automation will fail or be unable to handle an emergency it wasn’t programmed to deal with; in that scenario (admittedly rare) a person in the cockpit could save a lot of lives. Why the

Any airplane that size doesn’t have the ability to avoid a birdstrike. That same scenario could have happened at an altitude and speed where a turnback to any airport wouldn’t be an option. Maybe AI could figure out a “least bad” solution, but I’ll still trust a professional pilot to make the best decision. Bad shit

Autonomous planes with no pilot? No fucking way! Sure, pilot error is almost always the root cause of airplane crashes. I think that full automation can increase safety, but I’ll still want a meatbag up front monitoring things. How would a fully automated flight react to dual engine failure over a populated area

Nevermind...

I wouldn’t be concerned with your fellow readers pushing the price up. The average income of Jalopnik commentariat is above “pizza delivery” but below “shift manager”.

I think your off base with the weight. If your engine comes in lighter than a comparable (displacement, power, configuration) 4 cylinder I’d be astonished. I want to see this done badly however. Please fail hard for the better good of the internet!

25cent wing night. I piled down around 60-ish as did other guys at the table. The real freak at the table cleared 100. You could tell after 80 or so that he was uncomfortable, but he hit the century mark.

I drove highway 1 with my wife (before kids) from SF to Burbank. It was awesome. That is all.

Yes, named Zippy. The logo looks better

As if distracted driving weren’t enough of an issue...

The F-150 also used the TIB and TTB for many years. The fun part is when the radius arms disentigrate from rust. I had one collpase under hard braking in an old (‘84?) hoopy I had the misfortune of moving.

Are you me? I had a ‘93 in ‘96 in the same configuration,; regular cab, 4cylinder, and manual trans. I bought from my grandfather at a very friendly price in basically new condition (he used it sparingly). I also jumped mine regularly, did things in the tiny regular cab that adults would disapprove of, and it never

I concur. I’m all for some exhaust theatrics on overrun, but this is downright stupid.

That’s not detonation, it’s excess fuel igniting in the exhaust. Detonation is uncontrolled combustion inside the cylinder.

I pretty much don’t wrench any more on my cars (brakes are about it). All other maintenance or repairs they get sent in.

See Sears for a case study. That’s what failing businesses do.
