Selling a used beater on CL for $2,500 is one thing, but private party sales start to get difficult when you’re talking about a vehicle with a value of 30 or 40k (or more). People in those price ranges don’t usually shop craigslist and are looking for sales and financing in one stop. Also keep in mind that (in some

Because your a bunch of gullible rubes? Because it was written by a fifth grader for a third grade audience?

Nope. I read it several times and revised my response a couple of times before posting. It’s pretty much incoherent babble.

That’s the only part of your post that made sense. The rest sounded like message board non-engineers talking about shit they don’t understand or can’t explain.

Eh, kinda sorta. The Mk2 A3 (previous gen) and Mk6 Jetta (current) were on the same platform. The Mk3 A3 (current) and Mk7 Jetta (2019) are both on the MQB. Saying it’s a fancy Jetta is also like saying it’s a small Atlas. Sure they’re both on the MQB, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot since the platform is extremely f

Have you done the math on that? The payment would be well north of $1,000/month (more like $1300-$1500 depending on the variables). At 15k miles a year and 15mpg, the difference in fuel costs is $83/month for a price jump from $3 to $4 gallon. I can’t imagine a scenario where a buyer, even someone who is stretching to

I think you’ll be waiting a while. Also, people buying a $100k+ luxury SUV aren’t concerned with the price of fuel.

God forbid other, more interesting articles get written about topics that haven’t already be covered multiple times. God forbid anyone says anything critical about the content on Jalopnik. We all know it’s the holy grail of automotive journalism.

Or, you know, maybe someone getting paid to do a job could take more than a few seconds to see if the EXACT same topic had already been written about TWICE on the SAME website. Maybe you should go fuck yourself, asshole.

How many times is this story going to get recycled?

You’re thinking of the Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix or the Corolla and Geo (later Chevy) Prizm. The Cavalier was always a sad lump of GM steel.

Do you English?

Your probably also not pulling in $200k a year; it’s a percentage change.

Is your employer using the new tax rates? I run payroll (among other things) and have salaries ranging from $12/hr to over $100k annually. All employees have seen an increase.

Nailed it. I’d rather spend my time enjoying the car than working on it in the garage. Some people enjoying turning wrenches and that’s fine, but I’d rather be out driving or arriving at my destination without worry than laying on a creeper trying to fix whatever went wrong that week.

Pedant alert: it’s lede not lead.

After some haggling I think I could part with a few kilo-bucks for this thing. My wife would question my sanity and taste, but that’s nothing new. It’s total hillbilly POS, but for some stupid fun it would work. Turn around and sell it after a few months of burnouts and you’d probably come out even - minus your
