Because it's not just about how much sleep you get, it's also about actual wake-up times, which are governed by your body's melanin cycle as part of it's circadian rhythm. Most teens physically can't get to sleep earlier, and forcing them to wake up earlier goes against every hormonal signal their body is sending.…

Just FYI, when I was in college and I met girls who didn't have their ears pierced (that was seriously the first time I had met some) several of them said they wanted pierced ears as children but their mothers wouldn't let them.

1) I didn't realize that white people thought getting a girl's ears pierced was a big deal until I was fifteen. I'm from Miami. Every girl I knew (friends and family) got her ears pierced before she was six months old.
