I have to concur with the “timid middle aged lady” thing. Around here, they drive 10 mph in the snow with chains and their flashers on, all the while gripping the steering wheel like their life depends on it. I love Subaru's and have owned many over the years (starting with an '85 GL-10) but, by God, Subaru drivers…

I bought a Mazda 6 at CarMax and paid $2500.00 for the warranty specifically because of these articles. Two weeks after I bought the car, CarMax paid $998.00 for a new satnav head unit and $285.00 for seven days in a rental car.

Hey, ‘15 Outback owner here….and I think those ads….are THE WORST! I change the station immediately, though you must admit the TV ad with the Dad giving his daughter instructions before her first solo drive as he views her as a 5 year old is pretty damn good.

People make fun of the whole “I don’t feel safe at night unless my car has AWD” thing, and I agree it’s largely unnecessary in most cases. I also honestly cringe when I hear subaru adds on the radio etc, mostly because the people in the adds sound to me like some of the most scared and helpless and annoying people out…

if only they got rid of their smug radio ads they play here on long island. the smugness drives me nuts.

I don’t understand it, low power, poor fuel mileage, and leaky head gaskets motivate me to stay away.

It’s not about time here, it’s about context. Secretariat ran against Sham and a handful of non-challengers, and Sham burned out trying to match Secretariat’s pace. It’s easy to think that Secretariat’s huge win was just an illusion of poor competition.

And then you see that the pack that finished 31 lengths behind…

The problem is that most of the 1973 video footage features Secretariat, Sham, and *nobody else*.
