The characters and their dialogue are so bland, I was writing this off. But then Garland rolls in with his booming “ARMSTRONG TECHNIQUE PASSED DOWN FOR GENERATIONS” voice and I was so rooting for him to crush the least interesting warriors of light of all time.
The trailer was pretty generic, but there were a few beats that really got me, like the musical cue of the FFI battle theme and hearing Christopher Sabat again voicing Garland with his perfect delivery. Got me rooting for him over these bland heroes!
My goodness, that opening scene with Ayo and Bucky had me from the start. She’s so good! And him initially fighting back tears in fear of becoming the killing machine again only to realize he’s free and cry out of joy hit so well!
I really enjoyed the dynamic between all 4 of them this episode!
Thank you very much for this! They’re getting very good with these logo songs
Yes, I demand to see the full recordings of all the stuff this military band has done! An album even!
My favorite thing from this great episode is the fantastic marching band rendition of the Star Spangled Man With A Plan theme. So good!
Persona 4 definitely did the best job with that, and is why despite not having the most streamlined gameplay, is my favorite to play and revisit. Because those characters have great chemistry and really feel like good friends! It’s a big deal in a game about the importance of relationships!
I’m very glad they did right by the characters! One of my biggest complaints about P5 was that the gang never really got a lot of time to breathe and just hangout with each other, and as a result I never felt like they were actually that close or even liked each other very much. But here in Strikers, all they do is…
Wow, so we’re getting VII Remake for PS+ which can then be upgraded to the PS5 version!?
You know, if Yuffie and gang kill Weiss right here in this episode and bury the lore introduced in Dirge of Cerberus, then I’ll say this was well worth it
So he is straight out of Dirge of Cerberus. Everyone's favorite. Well, if they can redeem that game, then good on them.
Genesis was such an ill-conceived attempt at making a VII expanded universe that it flopped as hard as all those attempts from other movie studios trying to make their own MCUs. And anyone remember his appearance at the end of Dirge of Cerberus trying to hint at more to come? Great work there, Loveless.
The FFVII Remake remake looks pretty cute actually! And seeing them recreate the opening of Crisis Core with the little Zack at the end means people without PSPs can finally play a version of that game!
Doesn’t make them good.
Anyone catch who that white haired dude was at the end? I was feeling pretty good about this episode until he showed up feeling straight out of a VII spinoff. Please, Square, temper your instincts to muddle things with the awful continuity additions from Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus!
I’m just glad it wasn’t about Rex! I could not stand him at all, so I’m okay with this!
He fits right in with WandaVision going through the decades in television since he was part of that horrible decade hopping gimmick in the X-Men movies where they agelessly jump 10 years every time! Seriously, what was he like 50 by the time Dark Phoenix happened?
YES! Absolutely. I could not stand Ardyn and kept yelling at the screen telling our characters to stop listening and doing what Ardyn tells them to do. He’s a poor rival with only superficial contrasts, as you mentioned. He’s also much worse than Kefka, a rival that actually fails as much as he succeeds, so throughout…
