The teleport, while featured very prominently in XV, is also straight out of Devil May Cry V as well, particularly with Dante and V. But yeah, based on the trailer alone, it looks more skill based than XV with attacks requiring dodges, launches, air combos, and cancelable actions.

The combat looks so much like DMC5, that I have no doubt that when DMC5's combat director left to join Square for some mystery project, it has to be XVI. From the way the character dodges, the launch attack into air combos, and the way he walks while launching fire from his hand and moving exactly like Nero walking…

Man, I wish this reminded me of FFIX, but I felt none of the joy or whimsy of IX in this. I do hope this is good! But this trailer is definitely more like The Witcher or a Soulsborne crossed with the combat of Devil May Cry.

This soundtrack is so good! I remember hearing this first song and just being immediately drawn into it. Always glad to see some love for this weird game, haha!

If it really does connect so loosely, than does it really matter if it is connected at all? Do you feel like there would be any potential to make the story really shine if it had this element? Genuinely curious, having not played XIV yet.

Final Fantasy XVI - Witcher Souls May Cry

Yeah, we definitely need some more of that joy that IX had. Now more then ever! I can’t wait for a Final Fantasy game that’s full of that fun and optimism again.

I hope a few of these make it to the PS4's Plus library, haha! I’ve been waiting for a few to be offered for a long time!

On one hand, I would get super hyped up if some of my favorites in the series got the nod, but on the other hand, I think that would take away from making XVI unique if it crossed over into the others. That seems better left for the Dissidia games (if they ever get around to making those good again)
