It was never ‘on by default’ in the first place, but it remains an option like it’s been for decades now. You an even press Alt-P to turn it on and off without grabbing a mouse if you want.

Sounds like a cool utility, and I don’t even use a mac. Maybe they could enhance it in the future so Command+Shift+Q is “instant quit” but the Cmd+Q does the brief pause as described.
