I wonder how long it'll be before someone beats Hardcore Inferno on Diablo 3. I can't see it happening anytime soon unless people find builds that are able to cheese inferno pretty well. I kind of hope that doesn't happen, but either way it'd still be a hell of an achievement to make it through!

I'm waiting until the server stability fleshes out a bit before I venture into Hardcore mode because of this. When lag is out of the equation, I think that time-delay makes a lot of sense. It's not very hardcore if you can just slip out of a game if you're about to die!

That's my hope as well, but at least I got some time in this morning if nothing else. Did you end up giving that a whirl?

Me? At the people who take a day off work for the release of an online game and didn't anticipate sever issues? HAhaaaaa!

What's happened today has truly been one of the greatest injustices ever committed against mankind. We should probably just end it all now.

When you consider inflation over the past 12 years, I'd guess that we actually paid more for Diablo 2 :P

You think he has anything better to do when he's dead?

I think it's a huge pain in the ass to get those removed anytime, so I can imagine how much worse it'll be during this big of a release.

This is why I don't bother taking off release days for online-based games :P I took Friday off instead.

I don't think most people realize that if they were able to play offline with D3, they probably wouldn't be able to play that character online, and if they could, then at a minimum those characters would be segregated from the "real" [battle.net] characters like they were in Diablo 2.

I'm with you on patches. Developers now have the option of updating console games instead of it just being left a buggy mess. Some would argue that the ability to patch has made it easier for unfinished games to be pushed out the door, or has lessened the need to push as hard on QA prior to release, but I'll take

Lol at the people calling it way too easy who probably haven't played halfway through Act 1 on the easiest difficulty.

At least it's a good series to have that predicament. Not that the stories were shitty or anything, but it's not what's bringing people back for a 3rd go.

Hehe, ragdoll physics can be as much of a "curse" as they can be great. I use quotes because even though it's pretty immersion shattering when ragdolls go wacky, it's usually way too damn funny for me to care.

Fast-traveling is amazing, I agree. I also have a thing for unlocking points on a map (well, a thing for maps in general. I like maps), which fast-travel games usually have a ton of since they're what you fast-travel to.

I think he's just pointing out that grammatically, it should be written "QQs" instead of "QQ's". Most people don't get snarky about it since it's pretty commonplace and everyone knows what you mean :P

The evolution of checkpoints and death penalties.

lol.

I'm not sure. It'd be one thing if D2 were an underground hit of a couple years past, and so a ton of new people felt they HAD to try out the new sequel because it'd gotten so popular. In Diablo 3's case, it's been so long since its predecessor that a great deal of newcomers probably weren't around when D2 came out,

Absolutely not. The earlier games are in no way required to play or enjoy this one, though recapping the story wouldn't be a bad idea for those coming in fresh. At the same time, if you don't like Diablo 3, you're probably not going to enjoy the earlier ones any more. The gameplay and loot are the magical
