In the grand scheme of political lobbying, that money is pocket change. Sounds like the “gun lobby” to you is some kind of scary corporate machine when, in reality, its a large number of American voters who genuinely are ok with the maintenance of a 250 year old right in light of the associated risks and consequences.

The modern “militia only” interpretation doesn’t make much sense when you consider the 2nd amendment is a part of the Bill of Rights - a explicit list of individual liberties. The definition of “militia” at the time of writing also meant, quite literally, every able bodied citizen that could potentially be called to

1. The “gun lobby” is the republican citizens themselves as members of the NRA and a consistent voting bloc, not so much the “gun industry” a la big oil - though people tend to draw this comparison.
2. The constitution explicitly codifies gun ownership and says nothing on the subject of alcohol or motor vehicles

The bill’s vague association with the underworld continues to this day, as it is often used in strip club to double the monetary value of anyone making it rain, and by some gun rights’ activists to signal their support for the second amendment.

The main takeaway is that there are a lot of millennials and Gen Zers who are definitely financially illiterate

It sounds like the issue subset is what the NHTSA determined was required for the recall, nothing more. Not sure how a one month timeframe to remedy those items could be worth billions of dollars in refunds.

Are you assuming the update disables the feature? It looks pretty clear it simply fixes the issue and retains functionality.

+1. The fact that anyone takes this idea seriously is absolutely mind bending.

lol wtf is “virtual signaling”

Scud running

And just like almost all the eVTOL startups that use large scale rigid rotors, this will never be able to fly with any appreciable speed in edgewise flight without massive vibration and crippling aeromechanical loads. You cannot just scale up toy-size drones.

“Flying” in this case is more like “hovering and plodding”

Firemist Red”

I most definitely read that as “Feminist Red”

No, BMW tripled down on the inconceivably bad new giant bucktooth corporate grill on numerous models (particularly on the 4 series and M3) that was universally hated. The classic kidney sizing still exists on some of the models as the “normal pedestrian” look.

I knew it was a low probability, but bummed there was no manual option this time. I’m still driving my 06 4x4 manual Canyon, would love a new one.

Nobody even wants to compete with the 4x4 6MT Taco.

Helicopter rotor design guy here, there’s a reason NOTAR is basically a dead technology - it sucks from a performance/response standpoint. It also has all the same failure-prone tail rotor mechanism (arguably more complex with the blower plus motive nozzle) just built inside the empennage to force air out the boom.

A little dab of Flitz on a microfiber cloth. Try it.

While deaths on commercial flights have plunged, deaths on small plane crashes rose 347 in 2017 to 393 in 2018

The half-baked hatch thing and chubby rear end is a hard pass for me. I guess Honda just can’t bring themselves to make an actual sedan anymore.

So there was no cross check between radar altimeter, GPS, and pressure altitude reading.
