I agree, but on the flipside Id be interested to see if the CHASSIS improvements made the difference rather than just the tire difference. Or at least be able to show X improvements came from new/different chassis and Y improvements came from tires.

Yeah and if you read the official GM response its a bit weak....”we wanted to test the cars in their from-factory configuration”, so they didn’t put the newer tires on the ZR1. Not saying they are hiding something but it’s interesting that they wouldn’t at least try it after running factory vs factory config.

The C6 GS weighed close to and possibly more than the C6 Z06 depending on configuration. All of the “pretty” bits add weight, wider wheelbase adds weight, etc. Yes the C7 GS will lack the supercharger stuffs so there might be a bigger difference but we won’t know for sure until its actually produced I guess.

Agreed. I actually wrote my comment seriously questioning the validity of the claim. Because the C7 Z06 is slower than the C6 ZR1 at just about everything, so how can a Gran Sport, which presumably weighs more than the C7 Z06 and has less power all of a sudden be that much faster?

Yeah its definitely not like the original Gran Sport. It comes standard with some of the higher performance features but for the most part it feels like a beautification thing.
