Well they didn’t have the Theta platform at the time of the Aztek, correct? The only platform they had that could feasibly make a “crossover” at that time was the SWB U-Body. Everyone knew it was a minivan with a weird body on it. The Rendezvous was a SWB Minivan with less practical doors.

Wasn’t the Explorer’s 5 speed notorious for being made out of paper mache? Every single one I saw for sale from that era said “needs new transmission”.

All U-Haul locations use the same exact software, and it’s web-based. Sometimes it’s the internet connection, but 99% of the time it’s because U-Haul’s website interface is hot garbage. They update it every 2 months with no warning, so some college-aged kid working the system has to guess where all the buttons are.

I drove a month 1 build Solstice (my cousin worked at the factory where they build them and he had one pre-ordered). That was super fun to drive around. I had plenty of room even though I’m 6'4" too.

The refresh that got rid of the cladding made it look so much better. The 3400 was fine as long as you replaced the head gasket. They weren’t bad SUVs by any means - just had different looks than anything else on the road.

The fact that it was based on the SWB Montana from that time makes me laugh a little though.

100%. My wife’s uncle had one, and after he passed it was stored at our house while we tried to sell it. I definitely dragged my feet on selling it so that I could drive it around more. That was a super fun little car, even with no 3rd gear.

I was able to find an actual simple one in West Michigan last summer. 2014 Silverado Crew Cab. 4x4, cloth seats (with a bench in the front). It has a power driver’s seat, remote start and dual zone climate control. That’s all I wanted it to have. As long as I can keep the rust at bay, I plan on keeping it a long time.

That 3.3 was actually a great motor. It helps that it was a 3800 with a smaller bore.

My best friend in high school had a 1991 Century, and it was a great car for high school kids to tool around in. Not fast enough to get in trouble, but reliable enough to take the beating that high school boys give to cars.

It had the much less talked about 3.3L GM V6, which was a smaller bore version of the 3800..

I thought the Colorado/Canyon refresh was due for 2023, based on something I read last week. I could be mistaken though.

Yes.

I grew up in a 1982 Jeep CJ-7 Laredo and a 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with the 455 (both of my dad’s cars). My parents ordered a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera GT for my mom that was delivered the day I was born.

Sitting here in 2021, my dad still has the ‘74 Cutlass, and has had it since he was 17. Growing up

I’m in agreement on the Chrysler 3.7. We had one in our 2008 Jeep Liberty, and it was a gutless gas hog. It made all the noise in the world, but never moved the Jeep too quickly.

Other than that, it’s the 3.1 Multiport V6 that was in the early 90s GM W-Bodies. It was extraordinarily unreliable and underpowered. (Not

That’s actually quite good. Well done.

ND simply because of the body kit. I probably would’ve said NP at the price without the kit on it.

Luckily it stayed isolated, but our 2009 Traverse lit a coil pack on fire while my wife was driving it. We have no idea what happened, but our mechanic suspected that it arced somehow, causing it to burn up and melt.

It was running rough and the CEL was flashing, so I met my wife in the next town and had it towed back

I think my favorite part about the 4 cylinder Journey is that it still uses a 4 speed automatic... in 2020. I mean, what the hell, Dodge?

We were honestly at a toss-up last summer - either buy a full-size truck, or buy a Wrangler. We wound up going with the truck, because it’s so much more useful than a Wrangler. My youngest daughter is OBSESSED with Wranglers and I grew up in a CJ7, so a Wrangler has always been on the list of vehicles to buy, but my

There’s one for sale 2 minutes from my house, and I recalled almost buying one back in 2014 when we were looking for a “one year” vehicle.

Almost.

Not only did they paint it teal, they also made a GXP version.
