Lol yep, my E36 M3 had an unreal way to read the road thru the steering wheel but on even the slightest uneven roads it would feel like the wheels would fall off (they just got bent). Suspension technology has come a looong way since!

So true. It seems like just in the past 5 years or so I actually read news about carjackers abandoning their attempts after realizing they were manual. Puts a smile on my face every time!

The pearl white Gembella Avalanche was like nothing else when I was a wee one obsessed with cars. :)

It doesn’t get more 90's color than that.

I had no idea about BMWs. That makes me love Callaway even more!

I did a double take to see if “black lesbian” and “white guy” were in quotes attributed to him cause I didn’t think Obama would be that direct earlier in his terms. He’s definitely not pulling back punches as he used to!

Now playing

I just youtubed Calloway C4's Supernatural and found a video back in 1993 (All hail PBS’s Motorweek with Jon Davis) with a 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds. That was something else, even for today. :O

Also honestly let me ask you this: were you born after the C4 Vettes? If so what would you consider your dream car of your generation? I’m willing to bet that older people like me will dismiss it as dated like the slant nose 911 or Strosek/Gembella conversions but for us at the time, they were unreal then and fueled

Yes! The Guldestrand C4 in that blue and white paint scheme! That’s what it is if I remember correctly. His design and Callaway and Greenwood C4's were the dream Corvettes back then.!

Thanks for your honest opinion. That model is definitely a sign of its time. While I have no illusion that it’s dated, I believe that my generation will drive the price up as every generation has before. And yeah, the cut windshield if anything is timeless. See also Porsche Speedster from the 90's and before. :P

Haha another blast from the past! Wow, according to Wikipedia, Sledgehammer put out 898 bhp! Looking back now I am a bit skeptical if it was “streetable” but that number clearly was mind-blowing back then. :O

I just realized that when I mentioned about a 1990 Porsche 928 appreciating 25 years from now that that was last year. This realization is not good for my psyche...

Even Porsche had crazy color combinations in the 90's like their last 928 with green exterior and purple interior. They are pretty dated currently but who knows what collectors will think 25-50 years from now. ;)

I almost mentioned that! I remember when automatic transmissions were a $500-1000 option over a manual. I still can remember when I thought you had to be a sucker to pay the premium especially for a sports car when you were sacrificing performance for it. Those were the days my friend...

No I didn’t! I always thought they were a Corvette specialist. Oh yeah, and that clustering of the tail-lights!

As far as I remember, BMW has always been a status car for yuppie scum since the 80's and looking back now, we can see that BMW made classics if not legends back then. I accept that auto-manuals are the new manuals. Few from this generation will truly appreciate manual transmissions but for THEIR next generation, they

It will be a niche in the vintage market. Which I am desperately hoping means that they won’t appreciate as much down the road. :)

In all fairness to BMW, they were going to go auto only with the last gen M5 and M6 until enough manual fans spoke up. I guess this time there wasn’t enough to justify it. I guess I have to accept that it’s an end of an era. Still, I wonder if BMW would be willing to make it an option if enough people are willing to

I had a manual E36 M3 for more than 5 years while living in LA (heavy traffic) and SF (heavy traffic plus hills). Sure there were times it was a hassle but I can honestly say that for 90% of the time, I had no problems. Perhaps it’s because I love driving a manual so much but those inconveniences never made me think

Yep, my dad taught me in a cul-de-sac so even though I had a lot of “dad pressure” I wasn’t afraid to take chances because it was a safe environment. A red 1989 Honda CRX DX was the car. One of my favorite memories...
