Good luck. Parenting boards can be awful. I liked Mothering but you run into extreme Christians and extreme natural parenting (not science based though...) types. Ignore them. You get used to the acronyms but I still refuse to use DH (dear husband) etc cause I don't actually call him that and his name is only three…
You might find Mothering pretty friendly then. They are still pretty militant about formula, circumcision and vaccination so I just stayed away from those topics. There were a lot of twin mums who had to supplement with formula who felt SO awful about it and I would just constantly post that Lady, you have twins and…
Huzzah! I used to bring a spray bottle of water and just kind of freshen up my hair in the bathroom. Spray it, brush, add product if needed. Change clothes and put on a bit of makeup. I have an angled bob though and straight, not too thick hair so any other kind of hair might be challenging. As a teacher I also could…
ummm no. I like Mothering for some things but I tend to be pretty attatchment parenting friendly. They can get a bit militant about some things. Granola or crunchy I guess. I felt judged on boards for co-sleeping, extended nursing, and baby wearing. But then I felt judged on Mothering about not co-sleeping long…
Forgot Amelie soundtrack is really fun too.
My husband's parents are...weird. His mother is a borderline hoarder. She has rooms we can't go into and is always trying to "downsize". I hate staying at their house because it's dirty enough that I need to wear shoes and we always have to sleep in the basement. Last summer we slept out in the backyard with the kids…
The Piano. I LOVE this one. I could listen to it for hours everyday. I have ruined two CDs and now just stream it online. In fact, I'm going to stream it now.
Have you read Madeleine L'Engle? A Wrinkle in Time is the classic, but a lot of her stuff is good and some of it is most definitely aimed at adults.
Try MEC in Canada. They've got tons of casual hats and I noticed this year a few more straw-type big brimmed ones. I have one of the big brims for the beach and if I wear a nice sun dress. I also keep an Outdoor Research cream coloured bucket style hat in my backpack/bag for all those times I have to go outside…
I love that site! I'm thinking about making my own starter too, but it seems like he is more a proponet of getting a reliable starter if possible. I love yeast based breads and have been baking them years so I thought I would take the leap soon and make sour dough. I read the Oregon trail starter is great, but I live…
Try not to worry. I think if they can roll themselves over they'll be okay. I have three and while I can't say I never worried (I have anxiety and well, I worry about EVERYTHING) I think it's okay. Plus a sleep deprived parent is possibly more worrisome than a well rested parent.
I just used a regular pie plate, ceramic without a removable bottom. Still tasted great!
I made a that quiche and it was really good. I modified it, but she says it's okay so I put in a few more sauted veggies.
Popcorn. Lots of water, especially warm. I like herbal teas like chamomile or mint. Keep drinking and eating fiber. Prunes, raisins, dried apricots. But mostly more liquid
Kind of in the same vein, I'm attempting homemade yogurt tonight. I'm so tired of throwing out three plastic tubs each week. (my family eats A LOT of yogurt. We use it for baking, breakfast, in place of sour cream, dressings etc)
I think there's no really easy answer. I have anxiety as well and I really have to gear myself up to do new things.
My husband was a virgin until 24. We have three kids and have been married for 7 years. He just needed someone who was not afraid to be REALLY obvious. Like "I really like you. Let's go get dinner together
ISFJ here. Join a club. I have any easier time meeting people if we already have something to talk about about. I've had luck with martial arts, running and knitting clubs.
I do the same thing. I think it has to do with thinking you don't deserve nice things. Well, as a person who never believes such statements, you totally deserve these things. You can only help family so much. Give them what you can, but don't feel bad that you have good things in your life. Gratitude, not guilt, is…
