Arby’s gyro looks at least twice as good as this Potbelly thing.

Because you commented about soda on a post about sandwiches. You probably meant to comment on the post about Latin American sodas. It’s because of the way Kinja shows multiple posts sequentially sometimes. (I think—I use some browser plugins that keep it from doing that.)

I don’t remember them by that name, but I do remember a Druther’s in DuQuoin when I was at SIU in the 80s. According to Wikipedia, they changed their name to that.

Apollo’s Cafe in Salem. You probably came through here if you went down I-57.

We have a local place (downstate IL) that in addition to their gyros have another item they call a “gyaco”. Same ingredients but in a flour tortilla instead of pita. I honestly find them more tasty, because there’s a better balance of ingredients. There’s just to much bread component with a pita, IMO. Another bonus of

I enjoyed The Ramen Girl. Pretty good movie on several levels, and lots of ramen, of course, as well.

Hello from Vladimir (left, 18) and Sasha (right, 11). Vladimir already had his name when we adopted him as a kitten. When the gorgeous tortoiseshell joined us, we named her Sasha, because it seemed way more appropriate than her original name of Boot.

I just watched Holy Grail last night! It had been a while since I’d seen it, and I’d forgotten how wonderfully weirdly funny it is.

I feel like you’re allowed to do basically anything you want with Taco Bell food. Now if you were sucking the filling out of some good shawarma or something, then you might have a problem.

Not to mention that if there’s to be talk of ripping off, the Big Mac was partly a response to the Whopper in the first place.

Oh, this reminds me of the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in real life! I was at a reception my company threw at a trade show we were attending. A small group of us were standing around a guy from another company telling a long but entertaining story about going to college in a town that had a cream pie factory. It was

Yep, to tell this story one more time... I drove a manual Chevette of this vintage in college in the 80's, and it was pretty crappy. One day on my way to class, I tried to downshift and the entire shifter came off in my hand. The spot welds holding the mechanism to the floor all failed.

even some chemicals in sunscreens might trigger skin allergy symptoms

Burger Chef was great. The original “have it your way” place, with their Works Bar. They had the Funmeal years before McD’s had the Happy Meal. Somewhere in a box I think I still have my 70's vintage Funmeal Star Wars posters.

When I had to do some major work in our master a couple of years ago after the tub drain leaked, I made sure I’d be able to attach the new towel bar to wood on each end. It meant screwing a length of 2x4 between two existing studs before putting up the new drywall, but it’s firmly attached and solid now. If you can’t

Small stature? 720 calories already makes it more than I need to eat in one meal!

I agree, it seemed to me mostly like a generic action movie.

I made some of this to go with lunch today. Subbed shredded parmesan because I had it, and added a few raisins since I only had a few cranberries on hand. It was really good. I’m looking forward to leftovers at lunch tomorrow.

A good balsamic is amazing. If all you’ve had is the watery stuff from the grocery store aisle, you need to try a good, thick, aged real balsamic vinegar. I’m convinced you can put it on absolutely anything, and it tastes good. I’ve had it on meat, vegetables, fruit (especially peaches or berries), and even ice cream.

Oo, I planted an asparagus bed this year. It’s doing well, but of course I can’t harvest any until next year when it’s well-established. Looking forward to trying recipes like this with my own fresh asparagus!
