I always swore I’d teach my kids to drive stick. For two out of three of them it went well, and those two drove a manual to school in high school. Our middle daughter rebelled a bit, and it wasn’t until she was in college that she wanted to learn to drive a manual.

Yep, I’m in southern Illinois, so I know what you mean. We have one of these butter bell things, and it works well!

I like Burger King’s warning signs:

I’m not Canadian, but my wife and I were just noticing the other day that the butter in our butter bell on the counter was a lot harder than usual. It was 0 degrees Fahrenheit (see, not Canadian) outside, and after some searching online I found that 67 or 68 degrees F is kind of a critical temperature for butter. It

I got a cheeseburger from McDonald’s in Dubai once, and was really disappointed to find it was exactly like any other McDonald’s cheeseburger.

Sure enough, the GLH seller and I have multiple mutual FB friends. We 80's turbo Mopar people are a fairly small but dedicated and crazy group. :)

What I don’t get is that my little rural Illinois county voted 48% for Obama, but somehow these same people also voted 73% for Trump. I just. don’t. understand.

I did this once a few years ago, but I thought the result I got was a little better. I really just wanted to see what I could do with the idea. I bought low-salt chips with the lowest fat content I could find, then crushed them as much as possible first, about to the state of fine bread crumbs. I cooked them with milk

I used the leaf blower the other day when we had only gotten a couple of inches. It worked pretty well. It was so cold that it was very powdery and able to be blown away. The next 10 inches the following day required the snow blower and shovel. :-/ I have been using a broom to keep the steps and path to the car clean,

I was wrong; I was going to guess it had something to do with NASA and Snoopy:

That looks delicious! My local Tex-Mex place has a dish with Mexican rice, grilled chicken topped with a honey garlic glaze, and a roasted corn...salsa I guess?...that your picture reminds me of. It’s legit one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.

My wife and I re-watched The Avengers last night, and wow did that scene with Loki’s monologue to the crowd in Germany seem topical.

Yep, and no need to wait for it to pre-heat. Just put it in at the same time you turn the oven on, then set the timer for 9 or 10 minutes. It’ll be perfect.

I’ve been using “Barcode Scanner+ Simple” for years. It was written by a member of the ZXing team, requires no permissions, and is a solid basic scanner. The downside is that he’s not planning to make any updates in the future, so it is what it is. I needed a scanning app that handles the “zxing://” protocol for some

I served last fall in a murder trial. I didn’t mind doing my duty, but, man, I don’t ever really want to do that again. I feel like it’s enough to ask any one person to only server as a juror in a murder trial once in their life.

I’m about the oldest of Gen X (the generation that didn’t even get a name), so for me it was John Lennon, too. I was a huge Beatles fan, and have a cousin who saw them live. I was in high school, and his murder hit me and my friends pretty hard.

It looks like the juice is around 20% sugar, so I’m not sure why that wouldn’t count?

It’s because filter paper is used with funnels all the time.

Also in Illinois, so I have to admit my brain was initially trying to make a deer connection to that. I hit one (again) last month. :(

These pivoting type things are handy, too, especially for a quick wipe between thorough cleanings. A lot of cars these days have pretty deep dashes, and it can be hard to reach all parts of the windshield easily.
