Thanks. She was 90 and had been in hospice, so it wasn't unexpected, but it's never easy. We had moved them in with us a month before, so she was at home and with family.

It’s partly a flexibility issue. It is nice to be able to take something you’re looking at on your phone, maybe a link someone texted to you, and easily just toss it to your TV for viewing. That kind of thing hasn’t been easy to do reliably until the past couple of years. And even now it’s sometimes not all that…
Except it was on a UHF channel here, so I could only watch it when I was at my friend’s house where they had a UHF antenna. Man, I remember that the idea of him being trapped awake on board the ship while the rest of the crew was in suspended animation was kinda terrifying to young me. Honestly it’s kinda terrifying…
Dude, you gotta use bagel mode for that!
That immediately popped into my mind!
Once upon a time in my childhood when I was for a time an NRA Junior member, teaching those things was one of the main things the NRA did. Then starting in the 80's they became essentially just a Republican lobbying organization. :(
My Gen X psyche was formed from watching things like H.R. Pufnstuf, Gilligan’s Island, Jonny Quest, and The Flintstones on TV after school.
I can get behind that. I think they made that generation for, what, 6 or 7 years, and it is IMO the best-looking pickup design still to this day.

Made a donation to Fair Fight. I’m in Illinois, but my daughter and son-in-law live in Atlanta.
Well, I guess I had reason to be concerned. I just checked my credit reports, and this stupid account is on there, along with the bogus name. My former 800's credit score is now in the 600's. >:( I’ve filed disputes with all three credit agencies. It seems ridiculous that somebody can use nothing but your address and…
The problem is, if it is thrown to a House decision, as I understand it each state only gets one vote, and a majority of states have Republican-led delegations.
Oh, man, I’m having flashbacks to a few months ago when I was trying to find the studs in our master bath I was renovating. The main part of the house was built in 1942, but it was added on to at least 3 times (I think). Everything is a mess. I was putting new drywall over one wall in this room. I found and marked the…
A while back I got a welcome letter from an online bank with my address but a different name on it. I called the bank’s customer service and told them that somebody was fraudulently using my address, but they honestly didn’t seem to care much. Later I got a letter that I didn’t open and returned with “No such person…
I remember the first time I made a pie from scratch. It would have been about 1978 when I was 12 years old. Our local 4H club was supposed to work a concession stand one evening at the county fair (whew that sounds corny, but hey, this is rural Illinois corn country), and we were each supposed to bring a pie. Being a…
Edit...Ha! I just noticed this article was reposted from years ago.
I think I agree with everything all of your parents said. Weirdly, my real name is the same as one of them! At 54, I’m the oldest of Gen X. I’m afraid my own Boomer parents are part of the conned-by-Trump crowd, but my in-laws always voted Democrat. My mother-in-law, alas, passed away two weeks ago, and wasn’t able to…
Somebody has to at least mention that there are kumquats in that picture!
Old aspirin has only absorbed water and broken down into salicylic acid and acetic acid (vinegar). Salicylic acid is still an analgesic. And really, metabolism into those components is probably the first thing that happens in your body when you take aspirin, I would think.
