Gattaca was a great hard sci-fi movie. I don’t know why it didn’t get more notice.

When asked if I’m from Chicago after saying I’m from IL, I have been known to say I’m from the south side of Chicago—300 miles south. :) I’m about an hour straight east of St. Louis. But, I mean, they had a 2/3 chance of being right in guessing Chicago. It’s sad the number of people I know who want southern IL to be

I do 8 minutes in the oven, set at 350 but starting cold. Always works perfectly, and you don’t have to wait for it to preheat.

Oh, don’t get her started on Mr. Greenjeans!

I think they’re a lot more complex than that. Here’s something I found: “By receiving signals from the electronic control unit, the airbag can decipher how the bag should deploy. Some of the signals that are sent to the electronic control unit include the occupant’s weight, seating position, seat track position, seat

I thought today’s advanced airbags took some of that into account? Like sensing your weight and deploying with less force for lighter people.

Yeah, probably similar, with the addition of cardamom. I think this masala has quite a bit of cardamom in it.

I make it similarly, but with some garam masala my daughter sent when she lived overseas. I like my shawarma the way they serve it in Dubai, with meat, pickled vegetables, garlic sauce, and...french fries! The fries in there are really good.

Yes, I’m pretty sure it’s the same, just a little bit hidden in P.

Yeah, never heard of it in southern IL, either. We have our own local favorite citrus soda, though: Ski.

Sounds like it might go with rum. I had rum and Ting (a tasty grapefruit soda) in the West Indies, which was pretty good.

If you enable developer options in Android P, that option to use a random MAC address is available in Settings/System/Advanced/Developer options.

I had a “chocolate wine” once at a local place. It looked and tasted like red wine mixed with chocolate milk. It was bad.

I admit I had a cheeseburger from McDonald’s in Dubai. It’s the only non-local thing I ate while there, though. I just had the burger because I wondered if it was any different. It wasn’t.

I like the lobster mashed potatoes. They’re decadent. And some of the light menu dishes are good sometimes. I had some really tasty fish en papillote with lemon and artichoke a couple of years ago. Growning up in the Midwest in the 70's, Red Lobster was the only place to get any seafood at all, really.

It’s also very similar to a variant of the central Illinois dish called a “horseshoe. A “chili shoe” generally has fries, burger patty (or patties), onions, cheese, and chili.

Props to artist Elizabeth Williams. I thought this was one of the better courtroom sketches I’ve seen, so I looked up her work, and they’re all very good, in my strictly amateur opinion.
