PS. No fanny packs in sight.

My girlfriend and I were, by chance, one of about 20 guests at the resort (the Blanceneaux Lodge) in Belize with them. We spent a morning swimming with them in a waterfall pool and sat next to them at all the meals. While they kept to themselves, they were really friendly with all the guests and staff. The kids

    Donald Sutherland looks terrible.

The earlier email from the court reporter was not attached - I responded to some random all-firm email with that line. No context or prior correspondence included - just my statement that I was hopeful and heading straight to the hotel.

When I was a wee attorney, I had to fly to North Carolina for a deposition. Checking my emails when I landed, I saw that the court reporter had written to confirm that the deposition was still going forward the next morning.

Oh, I think couch and kleenex is still involved, just not in the session room.

@AThirstyDude: Dang it - always a click late and a kronor short.

My 5 year-old daughter just said last night she wanted to go to Legoland when it got warmer (we live about 20 minutes away). Last night, I was all "whatever"; now, I'm, "yesssssss."

@NordoftheBlings: Ahh, no love for Dempsey's goal against Juventus.

    Seems Achilles would be appropriate.

I suspect that's one happy husband.

    Richard Gere's response: meh.

@PerpetualMotion: Dang, I was hoping you wouldn't notice my typo. I should stick to German and Swedish. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a dwarf I need to murder.

@Buggie: Best of luck to you and your husband. I know it's awful, but you'll get there. Also: acupuncture works. I don't understand it and wouldn't be inclined to believe it, but after two years, we added that into the mix and got pregnant the first month. That's hardly a scientific conclusion, but I stand by it.

It took two years of hell for my now-ex wife and I to have our daughter. There is so much guilt and shame and pain on both sides, not imposed by the other but self-imposed because the whole experience just plain sucks. Once you're in it, though, I found that the only relevance of whose bits aren't working is to find

@Snowbunny: I was just reading about a few guys from Princeton who might help you out with that....

    Le petit mort, indeed.

@drunkexpatwriter: My pleasure - I've always liked your comments both here and on Gawker. I might disagree with some vehemently, but they're always interesting and I respect your courage in asking the questions that you know will garner vociferous opposition. Happy holidays or, more appropriately, Joyeux Noël.
