I too recently got a “free” older bike I’m fixing up, a Univega Specialissima. I’ve cleaned it up, done brake pads/tires, and period pedals. Currently working on a replacement front derailleur and shift cables. Seen here with my Diamondback in my very understanding construction garage.

My understanding is it's possible to take a BRZ, add LS, and wind up with a net weight increase of only ~100 lbs. If I weren't sticking an LS in my Miata I'd probably look at a BRZ to start with.

I was going to ask about the rev-hang until I got to your last sentence. Instead, can you suggest to anyone who will listen that the upcoming R get 18, or even 19 inch wheels, rather than riding on deuces like the last gen?

For me, and several other anecdotal people I’ve talked to, I think the main issue is the roofline and its effect on the overall proportions. The not-quite-sedan but not-formal-hatch liftback profile gives it a bit of a hunchback look to me. I like it in the shots in the article, which hide this aspect of the roofline.

Ohio drivers after watching the video: “you mean you're supposed to look before changing lanes?" Similar turn signal use though.

As someone who commutes to work in a burgundy stick-shift ‘06 Civic sedan that’s all stock except for cheap Tokico shocks, I can attest that this kind of body roll is easily achieved with a little commitment.

My wife and I bought a manual sport hatch last year, and in my mind it’s the only sport worth buying, rather than jumping to an Si. Granted, if there were an Si hatch, we’d own one of those instead. The hatch comes with a 1.5 turbo motor, similar to the Si but with a smaller turbo, different con rods (I think) and is

I think I speak for a lot of my fellow Camaro owners when I say...put that garbage back under the camo, please. I’m glad the SS is getting the 10 speed and there’s a 2.0T 1le, but sheesh it’s homely.

That’s fair, I suppose around here the Miata just seems to be a bit more ubiquitous. They both definitely do qualify.

So does that make the Miata the Japanese Mustang? They’re an easy choice with lots of aftermarket support and a small up front cost. Heck, I may buy one this winter to cane at the autocross in the short term, and then one day throw some nice springs and struts on, some choice tires, and who knows, maybe an engine

I really hope this guy doesn’t end up hurting anyone with his car. A few years ago, a guy near my shoved a front coilover on his slammed NC through the shock tower when he hit a big bump, and that car wasn’t nearly as compromised as this one. Presumably this guy lets his girlfriend and other friends ride in the car,

That’s what I thought too. When he got on the brakes in the slick area, the rear unloaded and started him in that direction, and target fixation carried him the rest of the way over.

I’d say it probably does, a lot of manufacturers are getting crazy with their standard equipment. Heck, the M4 comes standard with a solid mounted rear subframe. I’d say if you took a Z/28 and swapped on all seasons and some interior comforts, that’s about how comfortable my car is. ps, if you ever get a chance to

I think that really comes down to how many kids you have. I only plan on having one (none yet) and I think the space is fine for three, but with two or more children, I’d want something bigger. I haven’t yet been in an RS to speak to the comfort, but my girlfriend and I took a 1,000 mile round trip in my Camaro with

Track cars. Even though I’m too poor to go to the track right now, and while autocross and iRacing are a lot of fun, the itch is still there. Add in the facts that my Camaro weighs 3,770 lbs without me in it and big tires costing a fortune, and I want something light and cheap in addition to durable and cheap for the

It’s not that frantic because of the gearing. I rode in a friends Z06 on track, and you shift about as often as slower cars you’re just at bigger speeds when you shift.

Hey, crap tires can be fun at least. What time did you get out of it?

Riding with a pro, or even a really good amateur is one of the best things you can do. I’m just starting to pick up the basics, and I get reminded just how much I suck every time I ride with a good driver. Also, were you at the Cincyscca event yesterday? I think my buddy Mitchell said he was talking to you while

I
