So...vaguely and I might have some details out of order a bit...

Furthermore, replacing the white men with another race and/or gender just for that fact is asinine. ...

So are one-day boycotts. Because those aren’t boycotts, they’re an off day.

Developing solutions to problems like this takes time, not a week, not even a month or a few.

I’m suggesting its exactly where we were when the hashtag started up, which is exactly where we were months before that, and months before that, and so on and so forth.

There isn’t likely to be immediate change - because there never, ever is - but the acknowledgments coming from Twitch are a step in the right direction.

Streaming, despite any on-paper appearances, isn’t an easy job. You’re not just “playing games for fun.” You’re on camera eight, nine, twelve hours a day. You’re constantly “on.”

Youtube also remains awful for people other than the who’s can survive controversy or get sweetheart deals from Google.

Hence the note about mod bundling and the like.  All it takes is one asshole bundling it in with things and its going to make some mod/community manager/customer support person’s day hell.

What’s the issue? If what it does is made explicitly clear, it serves effectively the same purpose as a website blocker to help people break bad habits with playing time.

Project+ is not an official Nintendo made product and promoting it to the public, such as in a tournament, falsely makes it seem like a Nintendo product.

That was your hypothetical, man

I accept that means that some creators are going to use those rights differently than I would (like in your ridiculous hypothetical of every IP owner in the world colluding to shut down AO3 by denying usage of their IP).

You seem to be confused with my acceptance that a creator has the right to do something with approval that they do it in any and all circumstances.

That company (which still includes many of the original Metroid developers) put forth the money, time, and effort to get it off the ground, and they should be able to reap the rewards for as long as they are willing to continue producing those games.

I totally love and respect fans for wanting to create in their favorite spaces, but I respect the creators to be the sole iterators of their work. Tolkien shouldn’t have had to worry about people releasing Lord of the Rings materials besides him.

Anything is better than another modern or near future setting.

You didn’t look very hard. From the youtube video description:

Their version of saving face isn’t the correct path to save face. That’s the notion I’m operating under.

Specifically with Diablo 2 you’ve got a couple of things converging. You’ve got nostalgia, and you’ve got an entire generation who’s been told ‘Diablo 2 was the peak’. It also doesn’t help that lots of people pre-ordered long before all this broke.
