There was a whole thing here because the Skyline dudes were doing FX for Battle LA, but rushed out Skyline first, which was obviously not cool with the BLA team.

I’m not sure which movie I would rather see tossed into a fire. This, or the Death Wish remake. Wowzers, there is some hot garbage on the horizon.

The trailer said something about this is a sequel to the international blockbuster but looking on Box Office Mojo it made $66 Million worldwide and cost $10 Million to make so that rules out the only reason most sequels are made when they make a lot of money internationally.

I also enjoy Battle: Los Angeles. At least they have Aaron Eckhart, Michael Peña, and Michelle Rodriguez. And the actions are not bad either. I never could make sense out of Skyline.

How does this happen? The original was SO. BAD. And it’s not because it’s was simplistic. I unabashedly enjoy the hell out of Battle : Los Angeles, which was a very similar idea. Skyline was just bad in every way, except for passable vfx.

I also hope we learn what happened to the skirts and skants, why the Starfleet uniforms have so many colors, and also the origin of the tribble. You know, the really important stuff that matters.

So you’re okay with Star Trek turning into a self referential ouroboros (Tribbles, Harry Mudd, trying to get Dorn to appear as Worf’s grandfather) instead of coming up with new things?

That episode also gave us a great explanation of why their foreheads are different, “We don’t like to talk about it with outsiders.” Weird and funny.

Much like the rest of Discovery, they won’t look anything like Tribbles seen in TOS. They’ll probably have multiple legs, scales, be able to fly and shoot lasers or something.

No.

The impression I got from the TNG-era shows was that religions and rituals still existed on Earth and among human society — in “Data’s Day,” there’s a reference to the Hindu Day of Lights — but that monotheism had basically died out in the 21st and 22nd Centuries. So while there are “people of faith,” their worship is

So they discard and run roughshod over everything else that made up Roddenberry’s vision, but they keep that one sacrosanct? How fucking weird.

I agree that’s a risk, and one of the problems with prequels as a whole. I guess I’d be okay with an homage more along the lines of the TNG episode with Scotty, “Relics,” where the original set was treated with sombreness. I just want to believe that Discovery still takes place in the same world...maybe the Shenzou

I want to remain optimistic about this show...still, I can’t help but feel that the creators think there’s something wrong or outdated about TOS technology/effects. I would much rather see a Rouge One-like respect for the world of Star Trek. Rogue One had no problem with the knobs, giant cassette tape data pads, and

The worst thing about JJ Abrams trek is that all trek media going forward had to be based on it.. Whether you liked abrams trek or not, yer stuck with it in all future comic books, movies, novels, pictures, etc.. So now I am curious why this series isn’t just more of the same crap? Is this now a pre-original series

They’re referencing the 3-barrel laser pistols from The Cage.

I totally agree with you on this. Dwayne Johnson and cast have come out numerous times saying this is not a remake it is a new take on the old classic. I love when actors are tasked with playing another character thru the lens of them self ie movies where ppl switch bodies/minds, especially if they are of a different

Counterpoint: this looks great and you’re wrong.

Starting with the “Pway For Me” title, this is damn near perfect in execution.
