I'm Earl Schieb and I'll paint your Speaker for $29.99!

"Maybe, as a Christian, that we haven't been as articulate enough in describing what our actual stance is on homosexuality,"

That's(in part) why a good chunk of the AHL is moving to the West Coast in the next few years.

Yeah, but I'd be suspicious as to what their angle was...

Also, both major denominations with "Baptist" in their name reject the hell out of these clowns.

True, and I think we're picking nits to disagree, but maybe I should say that they aren't a church that cares much about being a church. I've been looking for the story I read but can't find it to cite, but it was something along the lines of the fact that since Fred Phelps left the church, they don't bother holding

I think I'm with you here, but 'splain?

There's a big baptist congregation in the small town where my in-laws live. The only thing that seems out of line is the devious evil genius it takes to set up this kind of long con. Then again, I haven't had enough coffee today, so my opinion is not to be trusted.

This is your occasional reminder that the WBC is not a church, it's a slip-and-fall lawsuit factory. They enrage people at difficult moments, get them to act irrationally, then sue everyone within a 500 yard radius.

I'd adjust that to "you know the parenting strategies that work for you and your kids best" if only because "you know your kid best" is one of the rallying cries of the anti-vax assholes.

What color is this goddamned shir...never mind.

Wow, two enormously overrated phenomena collide...Frank Zappa and the Bush family.

The crappy place I used to wait tables (think Denny's, but without the racial scandals of the '90s) left it up to managers what to do with run-outs. One of my managers followed one guy out into the parking lot with the standard "er, excuse me, I think there's been a mistake..." causing the guy to turn on him and try

It's funny, I've done all 3 (and I nearly ran the gamut in food-service, from fairly high end down to just above fast food). I did customer service for 5 years, and I did retail at a couple different places, admittedly for a very short time.

I know you're being sort of facetious here, but that really only works when the talent is equal. And I think that's still what's unknown.

Since this thread is turning into "confessions of accidental racism," I caught myself doodling on the cover of one of my notebooks in 9th grade. I thought I was making pinwheels, because it was really windy outside and I was thinking about the little foil pinwheels on a plastic straw.

A friend of mine had the weirdest little tic...every time he was about to take his first sip of coffee, he'd raise the cup to his lips and then say, in a descending tone...COFFEECoffeecoffeee...then drink it. Apparently it was just this thing his family did (we all have them).

Alternate venue suggestion...if your local YMCA has an indoor swimming pool, that's a guaranteed winner. You usually get 1 hour in the pool, then 1 hour in the "party room." Downside is you bring your own cake/pizza/etc, but it's marginally cheaper than Chuck E Cheese or Pump it Up and it tires them the fuck out right
