The nice thing about being a dude at a pantsless book club is that you don't have to worry about losing your bookmark.

Man, if the Occupy people had done this right on the Street, can you imagine how many DD-rated bonds would have been mistakenly issued that day?

As a cynical person who is frighteningly increasingly averse to democracy, I approve of someone who can maybe manipulate others into practicing something more similar to my politics than before due to his authority as Chief Ghost Story Teller.

Fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.

Among those in discussion is my proposed Millenial revival of Pippin, wherein a young NYU Media Studies grad tries to find happiness in the Marines, Teach for America, ChatRoulette, Brooklyn chicken farming and the Knockout Game. Eventually he becomes a Reddit commenter named FistingMeSoftly and marries his assistant

I saw Marinelli standing there on the sideline and almost cried. Come baaaaack!

Whether pink, brown, yellow, red, blue, purple or green, all Kleenex boxes are white on the inside.

Ta da! You get it. Buddies put up with their buddies' dumb shit, especially if they mean no harm. If the dumb shit gets insufferable, then you hash it out or aren't buddies anymore. Poor buddy behavior includes photobombing an idiotic pic like this, even though she's right.

I'm not very convinced that more education is a great way to reduce inequality; redistribution is. An awful lot of education is basically credentialism serving to filter the pool of applicants for clerical jobs with minimal added value to those jobs. Also, I think a lot of people are just naturally incurious, and can

The word "socialism" kind of means whatever you want it to mean these days, especially on the internet.

People would still be petty and incompetent if you abolished private property. The generally low transaction costs of allocating resources, liability and risk are pretty attractive in capitalism, but we should practice a type that involves far more state redistribution and regulation.

When I see instances of insane inequality perpetuated by normal folks' callous disregard for poverty, I wonder why we're so enamored of democracy on principle. I would take autocracy in two seconds if it meant equitable prosperity and reasonably protected human rights. Going into a voting booth is a means, not an end.

I would also like to point out that a certain somebody made the Romans' Terror Watch List a couple millenia ago, and now he's quite popular among the Patrician set, so...it's not unprecedented.

May your inbox in heaven be free of smarmy emails from pop stars.

Whoa, buzzkill, dude.

Your views are juvenile. I wish death upon them.

Ha , I gotcha. A family member works for an Amazon subsidiary and got me a sick deal on a Kindle a while back as a present. It was a nice gesture and all, but I was thinking, "Uh...tablets?!?!?!"

Google "Kevin Drum Robots" and then poop ur pants,

Oooooooohhh, c'mon, yeah you do. It's not the same as what Goofus above said about rape, but it's as if some movie star named Cletus Pelosi were killed and somebody said, "Aw, I wish it were Nancy."

I think you're smart enough to know that's not what the hoopla was really about. What flies as acceptable rhetoric is part moral affair, but also part arms agreement.
