This position of this article seems to be to really question if there are exploitative practices in the sex industry. THERE ARE EXPLOITATIVE PRACTICES IN ALL INDUSTRIES. One can be sex positive, pro-porn and still believe that porn actors and actresses can be treated really bad. Do you believe the porn industry is

when i lived in Detroit i’d laugh at people asking if i wanted to go to a pistons game. drive to auburn hills? are you nuts?

it’s hard to be a fan when the games are impossible to get to, and take 6 hours to get out of. a lot more people like yourself (i’m the same way) would become fans if they were able to experience the games in our city.

i’m sure “many” don’t like it, but he’s trying to make it seem like that’s the consensus among Detroiters. It’s not.

Everything you need to know about the US Women’s World Cup Team:

They’re harboring a domestic abuser and pretending she never beat the shit out of her nephew and sister, which she did.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I'd never seen this before (just found the website), and now will cry that this doesn't and probably never will exist.

Cleveland is basically Detroit without the auto industry or sports championships.

I'd ideally like to go a step further and have light rail extending up Gratiot, Grand River, and Fort also, with a cross-town line or two thrown in.

Simply put, Barry isn’t in Detroit. Anecdotes from blogs isn’t the same thing as being here. The principle being presented in this zombie article are not incorrect, but principle and practice are rarely equivalent.

Your post would have been more relevant in 1991, or maybe even 2001, but it’s not anymore. The old generations that have that “memory of the good ole’ days (before the black people came it)“ are dying out, and have long forgotten the city. I'm in my 30s, and I have no memory of the Hudson's store, or the Washington

This is one steaming hot pile of a take.

I was going to ask about this. I know the whole “It’ll bring jobs, tourism...” line is the one they always use when trying to sell a city on a new stadium, etc., but in this case isn’t the upside way better than the downside of not having them there at all? Will it actually create jobs and bring in money to area

yeah there was nothing at the site of The District, except condos across Woodward that have since tripled in value and the jail is, well, a half built jail. so you’re literally displacing nothing.

Hadn’t sent any real time in Detroit until a few weeks ago for a conference. It was a fascinating glimpse into our dereliction of our cities. Caught a Tigers game in town, would love to see the Pistons move back to town as it felt weird me they’re the one team that doesn’t play in the city.

Agreed. Woodward Corridor resident here. A somewhat little-known fact: a few decades ago, prior to the Joe being built, the Wings were supposed to move to Pontiac. However, the ownership basically breached an agreement with the city of Pontiac and stayed downtown. Had they actually moved to Pontiac, with the Pistons

this is perfect. The Palace is incredible but in the worst possible location imaginable.

Many other Detroiters, and frankly more importantly Metro Detroiters, love and are actively helped by Illitch and Gilbert’s current real estate business plans.

The numbers of Detroiters that actually don’t like it is extremely low. The numbers of Detroiters that will actively hurt by it are even lower (unless you’re talking about the losses in tax money...).

It’s a plan many Detroiters don’t like, and will be actively hurt by
