Do you honestly think the rising water will convince climate change deniers?

The high salinity of ocean water lowers the temperature needed to turn the water into ice (it will freeze @ 28.4F or colder). With less salinity, it will freeze at higher temperatures (so, at freezing point, 32F).

Spock’s World and Wounded Sky had the best damn Hamalki scientist ever written. :)

I understand that. But my comments were more for people that continually argue that there is no difference between the ice on the land mass of Antarctica and the sea ice that forms.

Well, the ice pack is actually going down, but the sea ice is growing. Mainly due to freshwater lowering the salinity (which makes it easier for sea ice to form at higher temperatures).

What’s funnier is in Excalibur, you can tell the point when Nicol Williamson goes from playing Merlin completely straight to the point where he goes “Oh fuck it, I’m winging it from this point.” About halfway through the film he hams it up big time.

Well, at least it’s not called: Warcraft: The Rise of Green Jesus.

And since this paper was published, I would then argue that many of his own peers think there is enough actual evidence to warrant it.

I would argue that in some ways, we’re getting to the point where we can’t continue to be complacent about the issue. Even if it seems like grandstanding or sensationalism, we’re reaching (or have reached) a tipping point that will affect future generations heavily.

Why not actually do some reading about it. He’s right that it had a lot to do with it.

So, you’re now going to argue that those peers who reviewed his work (who are obviously experts in their field) are lying as well?

Seeing the NYRF grounds again after almost 20 years makes me so glad it still is going on.

While I understand that they may have had to file suit, one wonders if in the end, Paramount/CBS is going to go ‘scorched earth’ on the fandom. There have never been any hard or fast rules as to what could or couldn’t be done by the fans, and the bulk of things have been done with both studios looking the other way on

The problem is that most (if not all) nuclear power plants are at least 50 years old, and have been given multiple waivers to continue operating. The power companies don’t want to retrofit those plants due to the cost involved, and no one wants to take on the costs of building brand new ones.

I swear, that picture always makes me think he let loose with one of the rankest farts known to mankind.

Exactly. One wonders what people who support Creationism/ID will say if we should somehow find life living under the surface of Europa. Or anywhere else in the universe. Even if it’s simple life.

No, you’re using the ‘Watchmaker fallacy’. That is, everything is so complex that random chance over billions of years could never have brought them about. Therefore, a Watchmaker becomes necessary. See also, God of the gaps.

The problem is that they will then argue that you must first prove or disprove the existence of God. And since there is no scientific way of proving or disproving God’s existence, the default is that he does exist, therefore, all life was created by Him.

Hey, be nice to the Neanderthals. They were a lot smarter than some of the posters in question. ;)

Yet, here it is.. gone. Billions or trillions of gallons of ocean water suddenly cooled in a world that is supposedly getting hotter and hotter.
