Y'know, even though this is the game that is making me buy the XB1, I really do wish: 1) it actually looked at least a little next-gen (especially seeing as how it's still only 30fps), and 2) the traditional Dead Rising wacky aspect wasn't largely borrowed from past games - and possibly recently, in panicked response

The Wii-U is not sold at a loss - not even with the price reduction. Though it's probably not as much profit as Nintendo is used to raking in.

Just fyi. Retailers do not make profit on video game consoles. This is the reason why you will never be able to get 10% off one, for example.

Won't be able to find them? I beg to differ. The only console between the two of them that isn't using 100% crap found in a two year old PC is the XB1 (thanks, completely unwanted Kinect 2), and the XB1 will only sell about 1/4th as well as its competition. Meanwhile, of course, the PS4 is just an old PC. You

I'm playing Kingdom Hearts right now, actually.

Of course it's largely assumption. Or, as I put it before, anticipation. Sort of like how I was loudly anticipating Sony adopting pay-for-multiplayer with the PS4, at least two years ago. I'll permit myself my little expectations. It'll be years before the results are in. Market analysis underscores trends; it

Alright, since you asked. There are a few reasons. I'll tick them off.

Why, Dark Souls 2. Why. You could have been my first PS4 game. I'm still not sure if I should just wait it out. Will they really not release it on next-gen?

Good comparison. The PS4 will be the PS2 all over again at least. But for a variety of reasons, I personally am expecting something even more remarkable. Something more akin to the SNES days.

You know, I did try to play one or another of these games. And I am no stranger to them. Shining Force 1 & 2, Fire Emblem on GC and Wii. Played those to death and enjoyed 'em.

It was a betrayal to a tiny, tiny chunk of gamers. Tiny! It was really a masterstroke, though, the kind that really comes into clarity in hindsight. The main positive aspect is that Japan doesn't get the console until there's something they actually want to buy on it (or at least that day is much closer). I mean,

Well that's good. I can start keeping an eye on Amazon then, for that one final influx of Day One Editions for the US. Goodness knows I don't relish the thought of paying for it at Best Buy.

So we get to talk about this? (The Shantae kickstarter.) I'll share my thoughts. My main beef with what I see is that they need a better animator. Look at Shantae's fighting stance. It sort of jerks back and forth between three points and looks just meh. I get it - they're shooting for a quasi-manga style and

The PS4/XB1 stretch goal is a disappointingly far-fetched sum of money. There's almost nothing they could do to make an essentially 2d game better for those consoles, so it would probably be a lazy port, and the dev kits for both are well-established as being quite easy to work with. So, a million dollars for a

I have a confession to make: I have never played a GTA. Well, I played GTA3 for about 20 minutes, until it got to a part where I had to help along a murder of a more-or-less innocent in order to progress. I have to admit, though, that this game now has me intrigued.

Meh. I'll take this kid over any kid who was hidden in a box until they turned 18. A stupid kid isn't going to be cured that way, and a non-stupid kid isn't going to let a video game influence their morality. I really pity the kids whose parents don't let them grow up. They're doing society the worst disservice.

May as well keep this going.

The big worry here is that Zach Snyder is precisely the kind of lucky hack that could end up willfully letting this happen. He's basically Michael Bay's slightly less braindead cousin.

Well, this is because those folks are expecting me to be one or the other, and in truth, I tell it like it is, which would tend to offend anyone looking to be offended. ;p In a nutshell, I call out XB1 for being inferior and guaranteeing itself a solid 2nd place, and I call out PS4 for having a launch lineup so weak

I take issue with the animation style, with people flowing-pausing like straight out of a Dreamworks production (CG character animation doesn't have to do this every time, but it's easy and lazy), and the character designs, which were needlessly cartoony. The shadow puppet approach, I can take it or leave it.
