Oh boy. So much to tackle. But this is the juicy meat I really like. Guess I'll begin with my thoughts on Chmielarz' clarification points:

Some of those comments reflect my own thoughts. You don't cobble together a two-year-old PC (a fair description of both new consoles) and pretend you have supply issues. What is more likely is that Sony is worried about losing momentum out of the gate. If they release the console when there's literally nothing to

Meh. There really isn't any decision to make, in my opinion. With the amount of time there will be between the consoles' launch and the arrival of a must-buy PS4 exclusive, going multiplatform becomes something of a no-brainer.

I get where you are coming from, with the idea that the PS4 would render a 1/4th res frame only, but the reason why this almost certainly won't be the case is because it would mean either 1) the TV shows nothing (or effectively nothing), or 2) the resulting TV image suffers visibly, by now being sub-HD - which brings

Yep, looks decent. Doesn't really scream "JRPG" at me, though. "Indie", sure. The narrator's voice does grate a bit, though. She needs to stop forcing her voice that low, as it frequently dipped into vocal fry territory.

I am operating under the (safe) assumption that UI scalability is off the table. The way it works is almost certainly this: The PS4 generates its 1080p frame, which is near-instantaneously downscaled to 544p for wireless transmission.

Friend, there's a big difference between 1080p and 960x544. Like a quadruple difference. Just saying it now before anyone else jumps all over this.

You see, this thing actually has a negative aspect that bugs me.

Seems to me that Japan's PS4 launch, if anything, has even worse problems than the US launch. Beyond the familiar lukewarm selection, most of the good games are Western titles which will see little joy there. Considering that the PS4 will be the incontrovertible champ eventually, it's frustrating that there's going

I gotta admit I didn't really get much out of Dynasty Warriors, but I'm not impartial to the formula. I did get all 1000 points in all three DW Gundams.

If the OP is speaking in terms of only buying one next-gen console and waiting a whole year before doing so, then you have a point. But I rather reckon he's mulling over which to preorder.

Nope. I looked at this news and all it did was solidify my recent decision.

The wireless video implementation this device (and PS4/Vita) takes advantage of will almost certainly not utilize or be based on wifi, nor accessible by such. Wifi would guarantee too much latency right off the bat, in addition to being an overall non-robust means of streaming data. No, the latency I anticipate

Any latency over, oh, 2ms will break this device's viability as a video stream enabler for gaming. Same deal with however the PS Vita itself handles video from the PS4 (seeing as how it was never intended to). I cannot help but be extremely doubtful that the latency will be low enough.

Interesting.

Aaaand.. HDMI out? Yes no maybe?

Nice pick for describing a torturous death. :/ Seems to recall there was a nazi who was famous for doing just that. Saw it in a documentary decades ago. Name escapes me.

This article, from the blog that kicked off a witch hunt (ha ha) that could well have resulted in Dragon's Crown being censored for US release.

Well, as mentioned earlier, the reason is so they can fit more processing in every frame, resulting in better screenshots. But it's not, like, 100% better. A game always looks better with a silky smooth framerate than what you can muster by halving it to 30, but that fact doesn't matter to game devs when the best

Fighting games, absolutely, because the whole point is to demand your reflexes, and 30fps would soundly defeat the point. But there aren't very many fighting games. RPGs generally do not run at 60fps. I actually can't recall one in the last several years, off the top of my head. Tales games only do 60fps during
