I'm not saying don't be critical. I'm just saying that "it doesn't look as good as a game that literally sacrificed EVERYTHING in favor of graphical presentation" isn't a useful critique.

It's a pre-alpha version of a game that's not out for another year. It's running on an earlier version of the engine the full game uses, and at a lower resolution than the full game. Graphical polish is usually the LAST THING to be done on games like this.

I'm not surprised an ultra-linear game with four hours of gameplay looks better than an open world action game with a ton of different options for the player. That's kind of an unfair comparison, dude...

That's nice. You clearly have a vested interest in first person gaming, so rather than argue with you about a point neither of us are going to budge on, I'm just going to wish you a good night.

This is correct. But Patrick said he was suiciding every time the other player invaded him. In other words, he was killing himself in the worlds.

Too real. TOO REAL. Steam is an absolute cesspool with games like this nowadays. Makes finding anything actually worth playing an absolute nightmare unless you already know exactly what you're looking for.

Indeed you do. No harm done!

I would be fine with a toggle.

I don't need immersion, personally. I don't project myself into the games I play, so I just feel restricted when in first person.

You already know this argument leads nowhere, Doc.

Jesus, Patrick. Killing yourself every time he invaded must've forced your entire game to Pure Black world tendency. Christ, I can't imagine how much harder it got as a result.

My complaint wasn't with the personalities. It's with the fact that the first person viewpoint utterly poisons and ultimately kills characterization and development.

It's almost as if I'm not trying to be a comedian when I post things on this site. Huh.

Lots of things. Community, Venture Bros., Louie, Spaced...

First person in novels makes sense. It doesn't make sense in games. There's an inherent disconnect between IMMERSION and CHARACTERIZATION that games can never overcome.

And now you know why I groaned so hard.

Because almost all of the humor in Borderlands is incredibly in-your-face. It's the textbook example of trying way too hard to be funny. If you're trying too hard to be funny, you're not funny - you're Dane Cook.

I think one of the most unfortunate aspects of borderlands in general was that it was a first person shooter in general. You have this amazing world and art style, with such stylish flair. I would have loved to see my character in action, leaping over walls and sliding into cover, pulling off badass gunslinging

Extremely bad.
