Hi Whitney,
Hi Whitney,
It depends on what they did, obviously, but I think people can be redeemed, but it takes a long time, a lot of self-reflection, therapy, hard work, and mostly LISTENING. It requires taking responsibility for what you did wrong without caveats, which Franken hasn’t done.
What outcomes will change in the Senate because of his resignation? A Democrat will appoint his successor and I imagine she will vote the same as him.
My tolerance for “leftist” men who can’t hide their eagerness to talk down to and over women while pretending to be different from “those bad men over there” is nil.
You win by inspiring. Not by promising small gains for big values compromise.
Of course they wouldn’t have forgotten about that. We still haven’t forgotten about “grab them by the pussy.” We’re talking about a Minnesota race, not the electoral college in a country where just half of voters are human trash.
So what’s your number of how many women a guy gets to grope, manhandle, harrass, abuse, rape before it outweighs a pro-choice vote? A dozen? Twenty? A hundred?
I don’t know what you are but, it isn’t a liberal.
Very agreed. “Playing dirty” would just further alienate the people who voted third party because they think the DNC/HRC is just as shady as the GOP.
(I have mixed feelings about the group above - but we certainly don’t need to give them more examples to cite.)
First, one of the key effective attacks on HRC was that her husband was a sexual harrasser and the Democratic party let it lie. Remember how much we had to argue about that, even though it wasn’t him on the ballot?
Second, that depends on how willing Dems are to go for the throat. The cultural shift since Trump was…
As long as Franken is being replaced by someone with similar stances, so what? We’re the party that cares about this stuff, and dealing with it is good in its own right regardless of the elections. And as long as someone equally progressive replaces Franken, nothing is lost.
I’m glad that you’re trying to think strategically but this is a case where doing the right thing is also the best thing to do politically. Franken and Conyers will Ben replied with Democrats, so it’s not like we are losing a vital vote. Plus, why give ammo to disaffected voters who think that both sides are the same?
I already addressed the question you’re “waiting” for an answer to, but in case scrolling is too much work for you:
Franken is not the only Democrat in his state, and will almost certainly be replaced by another Democrat (preferably one who has not committed sexual assault).
See, I was going to say that, but I had to test him a bit by taking him seriously.
See? You’re not serious. You’re not real.
How is this softboy “oh I’m here to be the good man to take the hits, virtual hug emoji!” schtick you have going on anything BUT condescension? I’m an adult. QVCK is an adult. We don’t need to have our heads pat and told that everything is going to be okay because you’re here to sooth us.
*This is a double comment on my part and I apologize for the double post. The argument is “But this won’t cause Republicans to do the right thing”!! Well of course it won’t , and nothing else will either for fuck’s sake so LET IT GO. At least now maybe some progressives who switched to third parties like that idiot…
The fact that there are eleven other idiots on the internet who agree with you doesn’t make this condescending bullshit cute or right, fyi.
No, I don’t support the idea that we should be grading serial abusers on a curve and giving passes simply because what other men have done are worse. Your analogy isn’t relevant because we’re not talking about criminal charges here, we’re talking about social and professional consequences. And yes, I believe every…
