Maybe this is just anecdotal, but it seems to me that this year’s WBC has been more closely followed by fans than previous ones. Or maybe it’s just because the US is doing better. Regardless, it’s been an enjoyable few weeks.

Somewhat related — a guy from my hometown, Ron Wright, made his way up through the minors and made his MLB debut with the Mariners in 2002 or 2003. In his very first game, he struck out, hit into a triple play and hit into a double play. 3 plate appearances, six outs.
