I never thought of it that way, actually, and while I don't know that I see it that way, I am still a cis man and not entirely able to see the effect of my actions. In any case, it wasn't particularly constructive and my point was made no stronger for it.
I think of it as akin to retweeting something that I find particularly tone-deaf. I'm not here to make friends with people, and I'm not here to educate people who refuse to exercise any empathy.
I completely agree with that, and there's at least a decent chance that the trans woman in that story was acting inappropriately, and should be held to account for that. But that's not an argument for banning trans women from women's locker rooms.
