An article by someone that complains about "political correctness" and talks about "transgendered people" and calls a trans woman a "woman" (quotation marks included) is not particularly good evidence. Nor is there a shred of evidence that this was a cis man.

The trans woman and her partner seemed to think it was pretty appalling, so I think it's appropriate. How often do we see appalling sexism that's just waved off by men as "not that big a deal"? Same deal.

Oh, go fuck yourself. You're using bullshit hypotheticals to excuse and perpetuate the further oppression of a massively oppressed group. That pokes a nerve for good reason.

I don't think it's for a bunch of cis people to tell a trans woman that her treatment is just 'unfortunate'.

It's exactly like that, because the implication is that trans women are not "real" women.

Any evidence to back up that statement that you just pulled out of your ass?

Show me where a man pretended to be trans* in order to access a women's prison, or locker room, or anywhere else that people claim men are pretending to be trans* in order to access women's spaces. This canard is trotted out every time the issue comes up and there's no evidence for it.

Trans* people and their allies aren't responsible for the feelings of people "trying to understand". You're engaging in basic tone policing. I didn't know about trans* issues my whole life. I learned on my own, by listening to trans* people, not by demanding that they educate me.

Except for that not being a real thing that happens, you're spot on.

I have no problem with her being detained or even sent back on the first plane to London. I haven't complained about the immigration issue, although sending her to jail seems ridiculous when they could just send her home more quickly and cheaper.

Understood. I might be a tad touchy because the transphobia on this post and every post about trans issues is rampant and infuriating.

I'm not that interested in having a debate with or educating transphobes.

"Comedian" and "actor" aren't masculine, though. "Comedienne" and "actress" came about to differentiate and other women in those fields.

Just because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about doesn't mean that it's a massively complicated issue.

The problem is that this is this is the same thing that people say about every civil rights issue.

Yeah! It's like she's separate, but equal, right?

They have to consider a person to be an actual person before they can treat them like one.
