Meyer takes herself waaay too seriously, so definitely no confusion there. This story has a quote about halfway through where she admits she's not a great writer and is just happy it's successful. :) She's said more or less the same thing a couple times.

To her credit, the author is seemingly actually aware she's not very good, and is just good-naturedly accepting the piles o' cash that her hobby somehow rained down on her. :D
