With regards to the vacation thing... If I'm going on vacation to someplace that may or may not have internet, it is 100% guaranteed that I would not be bringing my console with me. That, to me, makes 0 sense.

I have a gen 1 PS3 and it runs, but definitely not like a champ. The thing feels like it's going to just stop working at any given moment. That being said, I also have a slim PS3 and 2 slim Xbox 360's, and they all work perfectly fine.
