I agree, I just love my w126. The quality is so evident, everythign feels like it has been built to last a lifetime. A time when you could conceivably “invest” in a car that would last you 30 years. The heaviness of all the doors, the over-built feel of everything was totally lost after this era. I guess I am just a

Its funny, the LS400 was the other temptation I had but I just liked the w126 Mercs so much more.

I tell ya the W221 is always a temptation. The big back seat would be great for a car seat. I store my w126 in the winter, just cant bring myself to drive in the salt now that I’m on the East coast.

Same here! I bought a ‘91 420 SEL for LA traffic. However it was hilarious in the canyon road but oh-so comfy on the 405.

If they are worried about boring, how about adding in right turns? Yeah sorry, had to do it.

Its funny I do the same thing! My 900's and my 9-5's have trained me. Leave it on headlight and forget about it, its brilliant. I cant tell you how less frequently I see someone cut me off when I have my headlights on.

Volvo V70 R. I always come back to this as my next daily driver, but I am scared of the costs. And this is a guy who owned several V70's and 9-5's.

Yeah I’m with you, 912 or 911. Always wanted one, don’t care about speed so much as I love the way it feels, sounds and looks. My garage is full of cars I can’t let go of, and I can’t ever afford one but we can dream!

Sounds like a hollow threat though, no one actually wants a Kia.

That’s like my 1980's Toyota 4-Runner. Unfortunately it does nothing to absorb the impact and left all that momentum to my internal organs. Thank god I don’t drive it anymore. But it was a tank!

Same here, I am staring to accept this fact that the manual is a dying breed. I was looking at manual Accords and Mazdas with the manual, but the top trims are not available in a manual. Hell, I’ll even take a “real” automatic over the CVT at this point. My wife is from the NY area, and she only really drove when we

Absolutely and a great daily driver. I really love European wagons, alas there is not much available. I like the V60 but no manual available and late Volvos had quite dubious reliability. I may go Honda Accord, the back seat is huge and that really helps when you have kids. But the seats are just not the same, no one

Damn I’ve had two and never had to replace. Now I’m going to be paranoid about it!

Same here! Now what do I get??

If you milk it you can get 34mpg on long highway trips, but yeah my right for it too heavy for that.

So much this. Why just one when you can have two? Not that I am talking with personal experience... ok I am.

and a Dad. F1 I would say comes second to that.

The same issue applies in NorCal, oil on the road. There is buildup between rainstorms, and even the Bay Area doesn’t get that much rain. Compounding this issue is lack of adequate safety checks on cars. You would be amazed at how many are driving around on bald tires.

No love, its a LIFT. ;)
