What did they lose? We gained CHIP, and if it’s necessary to repeat all this in 3 weeks it’ll be unambiguously the Rep’s fault. There’s no “spineless caving,” just sensible political maneuvering.
Yeah, this honestly seems like a no-brainer. I’ve no idea what all the furor is about, this is sound political strategy. That’s too rare among Dems, we should be encouraging it.
This is the first I’ve heard of it, which frankly worries me.
People haven’t forgotten how gropey Schwarzenegger is, have they?
I’m tremendously glad this show exists, but I’ll probably never watch it. Given the overall trajectory of the world, I don’t need fictional misery heaped atop all the actual misery.
I came here hoping for a reference to Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary and I was not disappointed. Thank you!
Leastwise one that painted my attackers in a sympathetic light. I can’t imagine how unpleasant all this must be for Kerrigan - reopening a painful wound so that Harding of all people can be “redeemed” in the public eye. Ugh.
And if you actually believe that Dixie Stampede was playing that song because it was written for a minstrel show that says as much as I want to know about you.
I’d actually have no problem with them having said “Dixie, an anthem of the confederacy” or the like, that’s much less loaded and far more in line with its broader usage. It makes the same point about the racist connections of the song without the previously noted problematic implications.
The implication is that the song was only, or principly, performed in that context. That’s not just wrong, it’s comically, obviously wrong to anyone familiar with it. It’d be like saying: “Amazing Grace, which is often sung at klan rallies...”
That was Haliburton. :)
It’s deliberately misrepresentative, reductive, and lazy. It’s also so completely needless considering the bevy of very legitimate complaints that can be leveled against this show. It actively makes the argument weaker and easier to dismiss. I doubt our worldviews are much different, but our argument strategies…
minstrel-show staple “Dixie”
Dixie may not be racist, but it is owned by the Koch brothers.
Wow, that song does sound a lot like “Creep.”
Goodfeathers was Animaniacs.
This seems like obvious nonsense to me - to the point of seeming like a cheap ploy to avoid a pay out. Is Jeopardy having trouble? Surely it costs next to nothing to make?
I’d love to believe that’s true but I absolutely don’t. Got any sources?
