Torch, I love your articles, and it would be great if you teamed up with a financial expert for crossover financial/automotive posts but the first part of your article is basically a whole lot of reading tea leaves. There are a ton of reasons for this type of position.

Based on the above summary (I didn’t read the full FAA summary) I don’t see a real fix for the lift issue, just fixes for MCAS. Is MCAS smart enough/react quickly enough to remove or sufficiently lessen the lift issue?

I was kidding but you raise good points. One big US vs EU car thing is that smaller cars might have no tow rating in the US but 1,000-2,000 lbs in the EU. I assume it is a car maker liability thing but is also due to people in the EU towing at lower speeds and some smaller trailers come with brakes.

If it handled 7k pounds rusted to a oblivion,  then with a fresh one you should be good up to 25,000?

So this bumper flying off issue is only fixed by Tesla if it occurs during the warranty period? I’m sorry, it’s bad enough that this is happening, but to not just fix it, or extend the warranty period for this to like 10 years or 100,000 miles is just lame. I’ve switched to Loctite non-metallic. Good for most uses and don’t need to worry about metal mismatch as much.  

I think this is great, if too reserved. I would love to have those kind of finances but they would be wasted on me.  I think we need more insane rich people doing all kinds of nutty over the top nonsense. It kind of makes the wealth divide more entertaining.  

Agreed, and like picking your car up at the long term airport lots if they manage to complete the repair a unique paint job will make it easier to find a couple weeks later.
