Thanks!  I figured this out after a few psychotic episodes brought on by poor planning, LOL

Oh, holy crap!

This is just like a bad week at the shop, David. Here’s the secret -

Think, plan, execute. Then, since you have help, DIVIDE AND CONQUER!

Seriously, have a plan, get prepared, and try to run the plan in the most organized, efficient manner possible.

Work your plan, do not let your plan work you.

True, but I’m trying to explain it without TOO much technobabble.  It was already kinda heavy, hahahahah!

HAHAHAAH, I only wish!

These days, with CANBUS communication, the window switch isn’t really a window switch. The actual term is driver’s door control module, and it collects data to send on the bus to the Body Control Module.

So, when you have a window that doesn’t work, first thing I do, I grab the scan tool, and JACK IN! (LOL!)

Pull up

Well, if one dealt with scruples and was not a greedy fuck, then “bad deals” wouldn’t happen quite so often.

Corporations are masters at handing down deals that only benefit them. Then another sees what his competitor did, and bang, you have a snowball effect.

I promise you this, get back to dealing with small

As a technician, I appreciate....deeply.....the amount of data that my scan tool provides me. I want to see it ALL. I want to see what the ECU sees when I press a window button, activate a dome light, or what gear is being commanded.

I also want to see freeze frame data from when your MIL illuminated. What was the

I still regret passing on the Shelby Lancer I could have had......

Annnnd......here comes the technician!

Let’s start with the van itself. These things are actually tougher than a coffin nail. The engine, while turbocharged, does have the benefit on multiport EFI, which is something NOT offered on the other four cylinder vans. The 2.2 and 2.5 were pretty ok, then along came the

Ohhh, David.....I usually see very much eye to eye with you, however......

What a miserable penalty box of transportation these are. The handling in the last one I drove could be considered “theoretical”. The engine, while willing enough for around town spurts, and you noticed, just doesn’t think that highway travel is

Oh, absolutely.  You could megasquirt the hell out of it, and go on living life.  That would even get you some nice tuning options as well.

K-Jetronic. Jesus Christ.

Little tidbit....Mod Motor Guy started out as a wee lad working on these. K Jetronic hastened my movement to American and Asian cars. As a result, I just got the first German cars in my shop a MONTH ago after 35 YEARS!

Run like hell. Run like the hounds of hell are behind you. I still have a

It’s OK. It’s actually a question I get a lot, and no one realizes that we’re far enough out that no one delivers parts here!

Well, except Amazon, LOL.  But we don’t put Chinese shit Amazon parts on people’s cars.

No parts suppliers deliver out here.

It’s not that I am unwilling. My shop truck is a late model F150 with a 26 gallon tank. It gets run...A LOT. Sometimes we get emergency calls. Sometimes we make 4 trips to the parts store. If I could get another truck, that was electric, that could do 435 miles to a charge, AND I COULD AFFORD IT, I would be all in.

I

This is an excellent viewpoint.  Lucid, well thought out, and informative.  Thank you for this!

Sorry you think that. Instead of a two sentence reply, MAYBE you could clarify your accusation with INTELLIGENT debate?

Oh, no, I’m right there with you, believe me.

Electric is AWESOME for larger areas. No doubt. The electrical infrastructure is kinda there, lots of things close together, it really would work well.

I think where I am coming from, is I don’t want to see suburbia dictate energy policy for us out in the country.

Likewise,

It can honestly be taken both ways, I think. BUt the next problem is that industry has gotten way too big for it’s britches.

It keeps us running, and they know it, so we’re somewhat fucked.

I think we did! I’ve been playing with Mod Motors since the beginning!
