I agree. I’m the same age as you and this is the first artist I loved as a child versus as an older teen/adult to pass. I got “Faith” for Easter and listened to it night and day, told my older cool neighbour that it was fine she could play “I Want Your Sex” I was old enough to listen to it. Hah.

Yep. My husband is white but is OLD at 42, he has a strong background in one segment of tech and has trained for the last year or so to get into another and its been tough going. So yes being white helps, but you better be young as well.

As a Canadian “mulatto” (hah, that word) now living in the US, I do agree its more racially charged here. I grew up with my white mother calling me that and that’s all I knew.
