It’s an interesting development. Although suspiciously devoid of any technical info. Even the basics, like how many kWh of electricity is required to make a gallon on e-fuel? It’s probably an amount that makes the “well-to-wheel” efficiency compared to a BEV a laughingstock, hence the omission.

Nothing new with this design. A lot of European cars in the 80’s had this setup. Although it wasn’t for noise management like on the ST. Rather it was to retain the “powerful looking” straight out the back exhaust tips, but without it blowing smoke, soot and fumes (car exhaust was pretty dirty back then) all over…

Looks like they need to make that green light a bit more obvious….

As far as realistic and actually available suggestions go, a Porsche Cayenne or Panamera of some description to suit your power/economy/price point is probably your best bet.

I feel a more efficient and far simpler solution is to have a cable car system with lightweight “buckets” or gondolas getting filled at the top and emptied at the bottom, and making their way back up. The cable would run a generator connected to the one of the pulleys at the top or bottom.  Job done.

The switch to I6 is mainly being driven by efficiency requirements. As an I6 has less rotating parts than an equivalent V6, less energy is wasted having to overcome internal friction, which means more efficiency and better fuel economy.

For renewable grid storage systems, and maybe some heavy duty commercial transportation, yes. Private transportation/cars H2 is a dead end. Witness the ongoing failure of the Toyota Mirai, Honda Clarity etc. experiment.
