I don’t think society really knows how to handle sexual assault or harassment at ALL. What’s the goal? Restitution to the victims? Punishment? Paying a debt to society at large? Rehabilitation?

You knew people in high school who drank underage, smoked pot, and fucked. Technically all illegal. I wouldn’t say trash. I would say “inner demons,” or “ugliness.” Being a complete, well-rounded human is about accepting the parts of you and your personality that are nasty, gross, and that, generally, are better kept away from the public.
