I did almost walk away from a sale once because they put the warranty in there without telling me.  I paused because the payment seemed too high for the term/amount.  They tried to BS me to say it was because they assumed I wanted it, but I am a former mechanic, so no thanks.

The older I get, the more I realize being a dick doesn’t get you anything.  I work for an automaker, and I have access to the customer hotline responses.  Some of the stuff people complain about and then expect a buyback would make your head spin.  But in most cases the loyal customer that is easy to deal with and

You are not that special Karen...Jesus

I was aware of the connection to DriveTime, but unaware of his criminal past. I am not surprised at all.

I think the concept is marginally profittable, but it requires a largely inflated company value and not paying workers a living wage.

My supplier experience with Hyundai/Kia is that they will source decent hardware from suppliers, then steal the designs and produce knock-off components with their in-house suppliers for a lot less money.

I think a lot of this is journalistic bias.  Maybe its just me, but I will read all these reviews talking about how amazing these Japanese/Korean interior are and how bad the American interiors are.  Then I will go to an auto show and sit in them all, and I just don’t get it.

Woof!  Jesus Christ this is a very non-cohesive design.

In the auto industry, I already work in kW or HP depending on the sales market, whether its gas or electric or diesel, so this still sounds like something written by somebody who has no idea but wanted to sound cute in their article.

Not to defend Eric myself, shuddering to think about it, but he was quoting a different article.

I dont know man, if I look up Tesla power level, it gives me the figures in horsepower, so maybe I will stay up on my high horse.

Except I can go to Home Depot and buy a saw that has an electric motor rated to a horsepower rating.

mine needs 1.21 Jigowatts

Agreed, it is a made-up thing that makes no sense.

As automakers shift from horsepower to kilowatts to comply with stricter environmental regulations,

Depending on what you drive, the rain-x washer fluid has been known to cause the washer fluid sensors to not read properly. Something with the chemical composition coats the sensor. FCA had a TSB to clean the sensor specifically calling out the Rain-x fluid.  I have always avoided it for that reason.

Thing is I don’t think you could even amortize the costs by upcharging the buyers alone. The way emissions and fuel economy are calculated for an engine family, this would either result in a new worst case that would lower the average for the whole family, or a new family would have to be created just to break out the

I have been working in regulatory compliance for automakers for several years, and without knowing for sure would bet money that this was a largely regulatory decision. Or they didn’t have a transmission that could handle the torque. The manual transmission will do the fuel economy no favors, as you have to use an EPA

I think the Mustang is a different animal, but I see your point.
