Volkswagen was excelling with its TDIs, with my wife averaged 57 mpg in city/highway driving and over 70 mpg on pure highway driving. It was the most economical midsize engine available. Unfortunately, no American manufacturer, especially GM, could compete. Right after GM’s bailout, it seemed the government was eager

I bet even when he drove, he never once drove a truck.

I doubt he even has a license and can 100% guarantee he has never driven a pickup truck for anything other than a PR photo opp.

He drives companies off cliffs in his spare time, no time for trucks, Dr. Jones!

I have a Mk6 Facelift Jetta GLI, previously had a Mk5 Jetta 2.0T Gas (GLI without the badging). The Mk5 was built beefier in several areas like door hinges, trunk lift cylinders, Hood lift struts, etc. It was built solid. The Mk 6 jettisoned all that to cut costs and maybe meet a lower price point, and it’s been a

He always loved trucks?  So where is his truck collection? Does he even drive?

I, too, vote left. I don’t call myself a Democrat - I’m more progressive. More like Bernie type politics. I have never voted GOP in my life, and have been turning a wrench since I got my Kawasaki 90 in 1974. I’m also a veteran, a 19D cav scout active duty for 4 years.

Nope just means you have more than 2 brain cells. the only vehicle that screams political affiliation to me IMO is the Bro Dozer. Some people might bring up the Cybertruck, but unless it IS you entire personality, it just screams LOOK AT ME rather than I vote left or right.

Well friend, here’s the thing - the average conservative supports a rapist, pedo, draft dodging, felonious traitor. They aren’t very smart. They think anything they don’t understand or like, is Woke/Fascist/Socialist/Communist/Marxist at the same time.

Can someone explain why enjoyment of cars/car culture is a presumption of GOP status?  I am a democrat - all my voting years - but I’ve also loved cars since I can remember lining up Matchbox and Hot Wheels on my parents’ TV console when I was maybe 3-4 years old.  I am into all kinds of vehicles too; I don’t hate EVs

The beginning of summer I did back-to-back weeks in Dallas for work. First week I had a Volvo S60, second week a Jetta. I much preferred the Jetta. A simple, no-nonsense car that just does what it does really well. But VWs have always clicked with me, having owned eight of them, including two new Golfs.

Also, what kind of losers travel so little that they are in the security lane for poors (non TSA Pre) and have to take off their shoes?

Holding up the security line for any reason makes you an idiot and/or asshole. Holding up the security line for your own vanity (ie for tiktok or instagram) makes you a HUUUUGE asshole.

Well then it turns into an OnlyFans video and they make even more money.

and rightly so! We should all be honor-bound to do that same!

Anyone who does this should be automatically subjected to a full cavity search.

Just when I thought influencers could sink no lower they come up with this absolute nonsense. What a shitty pointless flex.

If I’m being some dumbass influencer, worried about arranging their shit in the tray to take a photo, I will loudly point and laugh at their ridiculousness, while ridiculing them.

6'8"! I’m a stout 6'2" and the interior space is good in my 2018 GTI, but I’m surprised it works for you. Someone once said I looked comical prying myself out of the car. My sister had a long search for a car she could tolerate driving that her 6'6" very stout husband could be comfortable in. She bought an Avalon. My
