I know, right? Ugh. Otherwise looks fine, but they borrowed one of the most hideous design features of the Z cars for it

I thought about a 128 for a hot minute but I could not get over that nasty upside-down arch on lower side panel and door. It made it look like it was folding under the weight of the passengers. HORRIBLE design idea.
Perhaps when 20 somethings can afford rent and food first, then maybe they’ll start buying sports cars. Till then, we’re stuck with the meagre offerings available now.
I think I disagree here. Not trying to offend the ecoboost owners out there since I share an engine(ish) with it, but when I had a Focus ST I was really excited to trade it in for an ecoboost mustang until I drove it. I found it was nowhere near as fun as the ST and even if it is faster, it just felt heavy and blah to…
Every car is a sports car if you drive it hard enough.
Guy at work has one. It seems Miata Reliable.
Reliability and price wise ?? I think so, especially since it was based from Mazda MX-5 Miata ND
This is what happens when the government outsources critical missions to private companies. Just nationalize Boeing and SpaceX already - it would be nice to see them run competently.
Mustang is a Pony Car, not a sports car. Different category.
BIG agree on the interior of the Mustang. The last one felt special, and the gigantic screen takes up so much space that there’s none left for actual DESIGN. Makes it feel very generic inside. Reminds me of the Camaro interior, which is NOT compliment.
I was recently browsing the site of a VW dealer and was totally shocked. A new, well equipped Golf R can be had for 48k. Not cheap, but for an awd hot hatch it’s pretty crazy considering what a Civic Type-R/Integra Type-S costs. Similarly, a well equipped GTI can be had around $36k. The Autobahn Jetta GLI can be had…
Not necessarily. I’m 6', 250 lbs, and it’s less the height you have to worry about, and more the pedal box. I wear a size 13, so I have to wear some pretty lightweight shoes to drive a Miata properly.
For the normal person that could afford the purchase price of a new entry level sports car like a Miata, there’s still a few hurdles to overcome. First, if you have a family it can’t replace your daily driver, so it’s $30k in addition to whatever you already have, not instead of. And you gotta have the space for…
Given that the civic Si is in the comments, I’m gonna throw in my own car, the Elantra N. You get 95% of the performance of a Type R for 3/4th the price and a DCT option. Miata or BRZ would still be the correct “sports car” option.
Said no one ever
MX5 works as the best all round entry level sports car.
Toyoburu also gets one in the + column if it’s your only car. While not exactly spacious, it has a lot more room for hauling stuff than a Miata (unless you have to haul, like, a really really tall lamp that fits in a passenger seat).
Buy a Civic Sport, you can get that in an automatic. It’s close enough for people who don’t know how to drive stick or don’t want to take the time to learn.
I’ll throw the Civic Si out there. New is $30k ish and you can get a certifed used one for mid $20k range. Fun, great shifting, 4dr or 2dr options (2dr used only) and cheap to own. I think it’s a great option for a super fun sporty daily driver that won’t break the bank.
Miata is still the answer, but BRZ works if you need/want a hardtop.
