No, I didn't. Really your contention that no one has believed in free will in 100 years is too stupid to be argued with. Cognitive psychologists also approach the discipline from a pro-free will viewpoint.

No, I'm not.
Here's one.
Several theoretical frameworks in psychology presuppose free will. Do you think philosophers don't read psychology? We fucking do.
In order to have free will your mind has to have access to all possible choices
False. Robert Kane, for one.
If you were to do a survey of professional philosophers working today, very few, if any, of them would say the concept of agency was bullshit. Depending on their view of free will they might think that what most people mean by "agency" doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean they think the…
You should mention that Will Stephen is not just a random average guy. He's a CollegeHumor employee.
I feel like if this beat isn't fast enough for you, you're doing too much ecstasy or something.
"Agency" and "free will" aren't the same thing. And there are a lot of respectable philosophers that believe in some form of free will, and a lot of theoretical frameworks in psychology that presuppose free will.
Vanderbilt is a good school. I'll take a full ride at Vanderbilt over 60k/year at Duke any day. Really the difference in quality between the two schools, if any, is not worth 60k a year. If she really had a possible full ride at Vandy I'd definitely say Knox had other options besides doing porn. That doesn't mean she…
I have a friend whose older sister, a law student at the time, appeared on an episode of What Not To Wear for dressing inappropriately slutty.
A+ for effort, but that's not very good Doge-speak.
I'm a guy. Ask me what he really meant.
That's good. It was a different commenter that made the "worthless cultures" comment, but I'm not seeing their comment at the moment.
I think I agree with most of what you said, although from what I read before it sounded like the Palestinians were making a really good wage compared to any other job they could find (so, not minimum wage). So for those workers at least, if the factory closed things would get worse before they got better. But closing…
I think it's quite clear that practices such as chhaupadi or female genital mutilation should be abolished and limited as much as possible. These are worthless cultural practices. But to speak of "worthless cultures" is going too far. To imply that the entire culture is devoid of any value, frankly, does strike me as…
When asked about the the impact on her relationship or affection for him the allegations have had, Johansson answered "I don't know anything about it. It would be ridiculous for me to make any kind of assumption one way or the other. " Either that's mismatched question/answer from The Guardian reporter or that is the…
I think you're still missing my point. When "boy" refers to an adult it is almost always sexual. So saying "I want to fuck that boy" is not gross, contra Lindy. That is what I was arguing against.
Your complaint/Lindy's complaint really seems to be with the fact that in many contexts guy = girl.
Look I have to say the…
I didn't claim it was the same frequency. In general I'd say in some contexts (children) boy = girl, in others (youngish adults) guy = girl, man = woman. But, when "boy" is used to refer to an adult male, it usually has a sexual meaning.
Is it still manipulation if her friend is into it for the attention too? I've been made to realize performative lesbianism is problematic, but I'm not sure I want to say straight guys are being manipulated into watching, because a lot of straight guys will gladly choose to watch that.
I know a bisexual guy who (so I'm told) came out to his parents as gay in high school because he didn't know bisexuality was a thing. His dad wasn't very accepting of it. Then later on he started dating a woman (because, you know, bi), and now his dad chooses to believe he's straight.
For those of us who aren't in the know, can you explain what "no more than 3 new class preps a year" means? Does that mean she would be teaching no more than 3 classes that she hadn't taught before? How does this request translate into the total number of classes she would be teaching?
